Business Highlights

Awards and Supply 
-ASIMCO announced that it was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award from Anhui Jianhuai Navistar Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. for its major commitment to joint development activities. This was the second time that the ASIMCO headquarters received an award. In June 2012, ASIMCO won the Excellent Supplier Award from Paccar. (From a press release, December 17, 2012)

-In May 2012, ASIMCO NVH Technologies Anhui, a subsidiary of ASIMCO, received the Award of Best Implementation from Bosch at the 2011 Bosch Yangtze Delta Supplier Study Group Meeting held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. (From a press release, June 1, 2012)


-ASIMCO Camshaft (Yizheng) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of ASIMCO Technologies Limited, was awarded an engine camshaft program from Cummins for its original Viking engine. Cummins’ 5.0-liter, V8 Viking engine was developed for installation on luxury passenger vehicles. The new business is expected to open up opportunities for the company to increase sales to the commercial and passenger vehicle segments. Meanwhile, ASIMCO International Casting Co., Ltd. (Shanxi) made a presentation on its latest casting technology and forecasts of its export business to a delegation team from Cummins. -Yizheng Shuanghuan Piston Ring Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Company, received the following awards from its customers for the FY 2011: the Excellent Supplier Award from Shanghai Hino Engine, Weichai Power Yangzhou Diesel Engine, Faw Jiefang Wuxi Diesel,  Shanghai Diesel Engine (the eighth consecutive year), Tianjin Lovol Engines, Yunnei Power, Yituo (Luoyang) Diesel Engine and Beiqi Foton; the Excellence in Quality Award from Weichai Power, Deutz (Dalian) Engine, ChangChai; Best Cooperation Award from Jiangling Motors. New Plant

-ASIMCO Casting (Beijing) Co., Ltd. announced that it would establish a plant in Tianjin called ASIMCO (Tianjin) Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. to manufacture aluminum die-cast products. This would be ASIMCO’s second casting plant in China. Construction is being carried out in two phases. The company invested more than 100 million yuan in the first phase of the project, which included two major factory buildings and an office building on 26,000 square meters of land. The first phase of construction was scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2012. With the first phase completed, the plant’s yearly production capacity is expected to reach 12,000 tons while its sales are projected to reach 400 million yuan. The company has already acquired a piece of land for the second phase of the project. The company is positioning the aluminum die-casting solutions business as the core of its long-term growth strategy while automakers are vying to develop and produce lighter vehicles. ASIMCO Casting (Beijing) supplies its products primarily to Ford, Shanghai GM, Peugeot Citroen and Beijing Benz. (From a press release, November 20, 2011)

Relocation

-ASIMCO Meilian Braking Systems (Langfang) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of ASIMCO Technologies, is going to transfer its operations to the Anci Industrial Park in Langfang City, Hebei Province. The company broke ground for the new plant in June 2012. Taking advantage of the opportunity for new construction, the relocated plant will include a new casting facility, machining facility, and compressor assembly facility which will offer improved levels of fuel consumption, environmental responsiveness, and safety. The new plant is expected to be completed in December 2013 with an annual production capacity of 1 million compressors for air conditioners and 4.4 million brakes for passenger vehicles. The annual sales target for the new plant is 800 million yuan. The facility will also allow the company to expand exports of its compressors to major global engine manufacturers as well as deliveries of brakes to luxury vehicle manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Beijing Benz, and BMW Brilliance. In 2011, ASIMCO Meilian Braking Systems produced 670,000 compressors and 2.46 million brakes for passenger vehicles, generating a total of 550 million yuan in sales. Quality Certificate

-ASIMCO Technologies Limited obtained ISO 14001 environmental management certification in February 2012. The Company also received TS 16949 quality management certification in March 2012. (From a press release, April 1, 2012)

-ASIMCO Technologies Limited announced that diaphragms produced at its subsidiary, ASIMCO NVH Technologies Anhui, had passed the quality audit conducted by Tokico, four years after a sample was first provided to the Japanese company in 2008. After gaining approval from Nissan, ASIMCO NVH supplied the diaphragms to Tokico Suzhou for vacuum booster applications for Nissan vehicles produced in China. Projected production capacity is expected to reach 300,000 units a year, translating to 2 million yuan in sales. This was the first time that a major ASIMCO product was installed on Nissan vehicles. The Company says that the collaboration with Tokico has significantly opened up business opportunities with Nissan, Toyota and other Japanese automakers. (From a press release, February 10, 2012)

R&D

R&D facilities

-The Company conducts research and development on NVH and other technologies related to engines and chassis at its R&D center in Wuhu, Anhui Province.


-The R&D Center for NVH Technology at ASIMCO Technologies Limited passed the screening conducted by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS). The Company received its CNAS certificate shortly thereafter, which gave special authority to inspection reports issued by the R&D center. Because of the CNAS certification, the R&D facility is allowed to conduct technical testing for other companies in the industry as a third-party institution. (From a press release, January 7, 2012)


- In 2011, ASIMCO Shuanghuan obtained four national patents for new products and technologies. The company created an Enterprise Academician Workstation to develop high-end piston ring technologies and products to enhance the company’s comprehensive R&D capacity.


Cooperation with University

-ASIMCO NVH Technologies Anhui, a subsidiary of ASIMCO, and Anhui Materials Engineering School in Ningguo, Anhui signed an agreement to form a strategic alliance on May 23, 2012. The school, which was established in 1985, is designated as a vocational high school of strategic importance. It has been contributing to the development of the local economy by fostering outstanding human resources for corporate businesses. (From a press release, May 31, 2012)

Investment Activities

Investment

-ASIMCO International Casting Co., Ltd. (Shanxi), a subsidiary of ASIMCO Technologies Limited, finished construction of a plant that is expected to manufacture 55,000 tons of commercial engines annually. The Company invested a total of 550 million yuan into the new plant. Trial production at the new plant will begin in August 2013, with full production scheduled to begin in April 2014. Orders for engine heads, engine cylinders, and flywheel cases have been extended to 2016. (From a press release on 28, December, 2012)
