Canadian sales in December decreased by 2.6% year-over-year basis to 125,600 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 88,243 units, were up 0.2%, while passenger car sales, at 37,357 units, were down 8.6% compared to last year. For the first time, light truck sales were over 70% of the market in December at 70.3%.
Canadian sales in 2016 increased by 2.6% y/y to 1,948,899 units, hitting the fourth consecutive sales record.
Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford took the first spot in 2016 with a 9.3% increase, driven by strong F-Series pickup sales. FCA was down 5.3%. GM was up 1.5% from last year.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were up 4.4%, Honda was up 6.4%, Nissan brand was up 2.9%, Mazda was down 3.5%, Subaru was up 7.7%, and Mitsubishi was up 4.3%.
Hyundai sales were up 1.8%, and Kia sales were up 5.6% from 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 6.0% and BMW brand was up 8.6%.
VW brand sales were down 14.7% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 14.2%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were up 1.7% over 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 3.3% in unit sales over 2015.

Canadian sales up 10.4% in November
Canadian sales in November soared by 10.4% year-over-year basis to 160,573 units, hitting monthly record.
SUV and pickup sales, at 111,628 units, were up 17.4%, while passenger car sales, at 48,945 units, were down 2.8% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, GM took the first spot in the month with a 30.8% increase, driven by strong retail sales gains of 47% y/y. Ford was up 18.2%, driven by strong F-Series pickup sales gains of 37%. FCA was down 1.7% from last November.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were up 4.3%, Honda was up 1.2%, Nissan brand was up 12.6%, Mazda was up 9.2%, Subaru was up 18.0%, and Mitsubishi was up 2.9%.
Hyundai monthly sales were down 5.0%, and Kia sales were up 20.5% from November 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 12.9% and BMW brand was up 0.7%.
VW brand sales were down 0.5% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 13.2%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were up 15.9% over November 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 6.1% in unit sales over 2015.

SUV and pickup sales, at 101,587 units, were down 3.1% in October, while passenger car sales, at 52,955 units, were down 9.1% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford was down 2.6%, GM was down 8.8%, and FCA was down 12.8% from last October.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were down 7.4%, Honda was up 0.9%, Nissan brand was down 9.9%, Mazda was down 3.4%, Subaru was up 9.7%, and Mitsubishi was down 8.6%.
Hyundai monthly sales were down 13.8%, and Kia sales were down 2.9% from October 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 0.8% and BMW brand was up 21.4%.
VW brand sales were down 11.1% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 10.0%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were down 8.1% over October 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were down 3.2% in unit sales over 2015.

SUV and pickup sales, at 115,278 units, were up 3.5% in September, while passenger car sales, at 58,182 units, were down 7.6% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford was up 6.9%, GM was up 2.0%, and FCA was down 18.2% from last September.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were down 0.7%, Honda was up 2.7%, Nissan brand was down 2.1%, Mazda was down 9.4%, Subaru was up 8.9%, and Mitsubishi was down 6.2%.

Canadian sales in August were down 2.0% from the same month in 2015, to 172,034 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 113,389 units, were up 2.3% in August, while passenger car sales, at 58,645 units, were down 9.2% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford was up 9.0%, GM was down 8.5%, and FCA was down 19.7% from last August.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were up 1.8%, Honda was up 1.8%, Nissan brand was down 3.1%, Mazda was down 3.9%, Subaru was up 34.8%, and Mitsubishi was down 11.4%.
Hyundai monthly sales were up 2.9%, and Kia sales were up 6.8% from August 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 1.6% and BMW brand was up 7.3%.
VW brand sales were down 23.0% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 6.9%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were down 6.4% over August 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 1.6% in unit sales over 2015.

SUV and pickup sales, at 114,079 units, were up 2.7% in July, while passenger car sales, at 59,225 units, were down 11.3% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford was up 9.5%, FCA was down 13.8%, and GM was down 6.9% from last July.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were down 0.6%, Honda was down 3.1%, Nissan brand was down 8.9%, Mazda was down 15.6%, Subaru was up 4.1%, and Mitsubishi was down 22.0%.
Hyundai monthly sales were up 1.4%, and Kia sales were up 14.5% from July 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 12.4% and BMW brand was up 6.8%.
VW brand sales were down 14.2% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 14.7%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were down 3.7% over July 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were down 1.6% in unit sales over 2015.

Canadian car sales in June were up 7.4% from the same month in 2015, to 191,088 units. SUV and pickup sales, at 124,594 units, were up 13.9% in June, while passenger car sales, at 66,494 units, were down 2.9% compared to last year. Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford was up 7.2% and FCA was up 2.1%, and General Motors was up 7.5% from last June.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were up 7.9%, Honda was up 4.0%, Nissan brand was up 13.3%, Subaru was up 10.7%, Mazda was down 2.2%, and Mitsubishi was down 4.0%. Hyundai monthly sales were up 41.3%, while Kia sales were up 14.0% from June 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 6.5% and BMW brand was up 10.4%. VW brand sales were down 21.2% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 15.1%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were up 5.5% from June 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 9.0% in unit sales over 2015.

SUV and pickup sales, at 121,855 units, were up 6.6% in May, while passenger car sales, at 73,011 units, were down 12.7% compared to last year. Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford was up 1.1% and FCA was up 0.3%, but General Motors was down 16.5% from last May. Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were down 0.8%, Honda was up 8.4%, Nissan brand was up 1.6%, Subaru was down 7.9%, Mazda was up 0.2%, and Mitsubishi was up 6.5%. Canadian car sales up 6.0% in April
Canadian car sales in April were up 6.0% from the same month in 2015, at 200,327 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 127,753 units, were up 16.3% in April, while passenger car sales, at 72,574 units, were down 8.4% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, Ford was up 11.0% and FCA was up 9.6%, but General Motors was down 8.7% from last April.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were up 15.9%, Honda was up 8.7%, Nissan brand was up 7.8%, Subaru was up 3.8%, Mazda was up 2.2%, and Mitsubishi was up 32.0%.
Hyundai monthly sales were up 0.6%, and Kia sales were up 7.6% from April 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 0.5% and BMW brand was up 5.3%.
VW brand sales were up 6.6% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 4.1%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were up 3.7% over April 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 7.7% in unit sales over 2015.

Canadian car sales up 9.3% in March
Canadian car sales in March were up 9.3% from the same month in 2015, at 175,142 units.
SUV and pickup sales of 113,413 units were up 18.2% in March, while passenger car sales, at 61,729 units, were down 4.0% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, GM was up 16.5%, Ford was up 23.7%, and FCA was up 3.2% from last March.
Japanese automakers also had a strong March, with Honda up 11.8%, Nissan brand up 12.9%, Toyota brand up 15.1%, Subaru up 4.4%, and Mitsubishi up 23.8%.
However, Mazda was down 14.0% year-over-year.
Hyundai monthly sales were up 2.1%, but Kia sales were down 10.1% from March 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 3.7% and BMW brand was up 15.2%.
VW brand sales were down 22.6% compared to the previous year, though Audi sales were up 42.9%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were up 13.8% over March 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 6.0% in unit sales over 2015.

Canadian vehicle sales up 9.1% in February 2016
Canadian car sales in February were up 9.1% from February 2015, at 119,201 units. In February, SUV and pickup sales of 80,251 units were up 17.9%, while passenger car sales, at 38,950 units, were down 5.5% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, GM was up 13.9% and Ford was up 22.4%, but FCA was up 0.5% from last February.
All of the major Japanese automakers had a strong February, with Honda up 18.8%, Nissan brand up 13.3%, Toyota brand up 10.7%, Mazda up 3.4%, and Mitsubishi up 30.7% year-over-year. Subaru, however, was down 1.7%.
Hyundai monthly sales were down 1.4%, but Kia sales were up 4.3% from February 2015.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 23.5% and BMW brand was up 11.1%. VW brand sales were down 27.7% compared to the previous year, though Audi brand sales were up 18.9%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 in were up 11.3% over February 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 7.4% in unit sales over 2015.

Canadian vehicle sales up 9.6% in January
Canadian car sales in January were up 9.6% from last January, at 108,553 units. In January, SUVs and pickups were up 17.0% at 74,727 units, while passenger cars were down 3.8% at 33,826 units compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, GM was up 24.3%, Ford was up 14.1%, and FCA was up 0.6% from last January.
All of the Japanese automakers had a positive January, with Honda up 36.8%, Nissan brand up 17.5%, Infiniti up 22.5%, Toyota brand up 5.1%, Lexus up 0.1%, Subaru up 2.1%, Mazda up 5.6%, and Mitsubishi up 15.8% year-over-year.
Hyundai monthly sales were down 3.8% and Kia sales were down 2.8% from January 2015.
Mercedes sales were up 17.6%, BMW brand was up 9.2%, but VW brand sales were down 17.6% compared to the previous year. Audi sold 7.1% and Volvo sold 9.5% more vehicles this January.
Combined sales for the Big 3 in were up 11.3% over January 2015, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 8.3% in unit sales over 2015.
