Australian new vehicle sales decrease 18.0% in December, increase 14.5% in 2021
On January 6, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries announced that new vehicle registrations of 78,402 units in December 2021 represented a decrease 18.0% over December 2020.
New vehicle sales of 1,049,831 units in 2021 represented an 14.5% increase from 2020.
Passenger car sales of 221,556 units in 2021 represented a 0.2% decrease from 2020, SUV sales of 531,700 units represented an 16.9% increase, LCV sales of 253,254 units represented an 23.2% increase and MHCV sales of 43,321 units represented an 25.3% increase.
Among the companies in 2021, Toyota sales increased 9.2% to 223,642 units, Mazda sales increased 18.1% to 101,119 units, Hyundai sales increased 12.4% to 72,872 units, Ford sales increased 19.8% to 71,380 units and Kia sales increased 21.2% to 67,964 units, compared to 2020.

Australian new vehicle sales decrease 15.3% in November
On December 3, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries announced that new vehicle registrations of 80,639 units in November 2021 represented a decrease 15.3% over November 2020.
New vehicle sales of 971,429 units in the first eleven months of the year represented an 18.3% increase from the same period in 2020.  
Passenger car sales of 16,832 units in the first eleven months of the year represented an 18.7% decrease from the same period in 2020, SUV sales of 39,733 units represented a 20.6% decrease, LCV sales of 20,222 units represented a 4.8% decrease and MHCV sales of 3,852 units represented a 19.4% increase.  
Among the companies, Toyota sales decreased 34.3% to 15,239 units, Hyundai sales decreased 0.7% to 6,854 units, Ford sales decreased 6.0% to 6,215 units, Mitsubishi sales increased 4.2% to 5,720 units and Mazda sales decreased 41.5% to 5,295 units, compared to November 2020.
The best-selling cars in November 2021, in order of popularity, were Ford Ranger , Toyota Hilux and Hyundai i30.

Australian new vehicle sales decrease 8.1% in October
On November 4, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries announced that new vehicle registrations of 74,650 units in October 2021 represented a decrease 8.1% over October 2020.
New vehicle sales of 890,790 units in the first ten months of the year represented an 22.7% increase from the same period in 2020.
Passenger car sales of 15,952 units in the first ten months of the year represented an 10.4% decrease from the same period in 2020, SUV sales of 35,343 units represented a 14.3% decrease, LCV sales of 19,344 units represented an 1.0% increase and MHCV sales of 4,011 units represented an 31.3% increase.
Among the companies, Toyota sales decreased 21.1% to 15,395 units, Hyundai sales increased 2.8% to 6,115 units, Ford sales decreased 4.9% to 5,462 units, Mazda sales decreased 30.5% to 5,181 units and Kia sales decreased 8.5% to 4,853 units compared to October 2020.
The best-selling cars in October 2021, in order of popularity, were Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux and Toyota Land Cruiser.
