OEMs built 333,677 light vehicles in Mexico in January 2019, represents a 9.9% increase compared to the 303,755 units built in the same month of 2018, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
Inegi’s report for January 2019 does not include production data from Mercedes-Benz, which started assembly operations in the third quarter of 2018 at the COMPAS plant in Aguascalientes, jointly operated by Daimler and Nissan.
Among OEMs whose production increased in January were VW, reporting a 116.4% increase to 37,460 units; followed by Toyota with a 41.7% increase to 17,201 units; GM with a 31.7% increase to 70,306 units; and Audi with a 26.3% increase to 17,224 units.
