Mexican auto production increase 4.2% in December, up 5.6% for full-year 2024
OEMs built 224,913 light vehicles in Mexico in December 2024, resulting in a 4.2% increase compared to the 215,912 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
OEMs with production increases in December included GM with an increase of 26.5% to 53,534 units; Kia with an increase of 17.8% to 19,900 units; Toyota with an increase of 1,073.9% to 18,501 units; Honda with an increase of 19.6% to 13,344 units; and JAC with an increase of 10.0% to 2,306 units.
OEMs whose production declined in December compared to the previous year are Mercedes-Benz with a decrease of 59.9% to 1,839 units; Ford with a decrease of 18.3% to 22,375 units; Chrysler with a decrease of 17.2% to 26,104 units; Audi with a decrease of 13.3% to 6,716 units; VW with a decrease of 13.3% to 12,852 units; Nissan with a decrease of 5.6% to 33,796 units; and Mazda with a decrease of 2.5% to 13,646 units.
The 3,989,403 total units produced for full-year 2024 were 5.6% more than in 2023.
OEMs with production increases for all of 2024 include GM with a 16.6% increase to 842,567 units; Honda with a 44.2% increase to 241,117 units; JAC with a 12.8% increase to 25,391 units; VW with a 9.5% increase to 382,312 units; Nissan with an 8.8% increase to 669,941 units; Ford with a 5.9% increase to 386,776 units, Kia with a 5.7% increase to 270,700 units, and Mazda with a 3.4% increase to 209,303 units.
OEMs which declined compared to full-year 2023 included BMW Group with a 19.0% decrease to 95,151 units; Audi with a 17.6% decrease to 144,223 units; Mercedes Benz with a 15.3% decrease to 57,487 units; Chrysler with a 10.3% decrease to 419,426 units; and Toyota with a 2.0% decrease to 245,009 units.

Mexican auto production increase 6.7% in November 2024
OEMs built 351,535 light vehicles in Mexico in November 2024, resulting in a 6.7% increase compared to the 329,345 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
OEMs with production increases in November included GM with an increase of 17.3% to 81,364 units; Nissan with an increase of 8.4% to 60,779 units; Kia with an increase of 10.7% to 24,900 units; Toyota with an increase of 149.7% to 24,838 units; Honda with an increase of 33.4% to 22,366 units; Mazda with an increase of 1.6% to 18,870 units and JAC with an increase of 21.5% to 2,939 units.
OEMs whose production declined in November compared to the previous year are Mercedes-Benz with a decrease of 37.6% to 3,063 units; Audi with a decrease of 21.7% to 10,989 units; BMW Group with a decrease of 16.7% to 9,069 units; VW with a decrease of 16.3% to 29,255 units; Chrysler with a decrease of 9.2% to 34,841 units and Ford with a decrease of 7.4% to 28,262 units.

OEMs built 382,101 light vehicles in Mexico in October 2024, resulting in a 1.1% increase compared to the 378,129 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
OEMs with production increases in October included Nissan with an increase of 12.0% to 70,382 units; Ford with an increase of 47.7% to 36,358 units; Kia with an increase of 25.0% to 28,750 units; Toyota with an increase of 2.0% to 27,112 units; Honda with an increase of 37.2% to 24,425 units and Mazda with an increase of 10.7% to 21,175 units.
OEMs whose production declined in October compared to the previous year included Mercedes with a decrease of 26.6% to 3,983 units; Chrysler with a decrease of 26.1% to 32,196 units; VW with a decrease of 24.3% to 34,415 units; Audi with a decrease of 18.2% to 13,358 units; BMW Group with a decrease of 13.7% to 10,376 units; JAC with a decrease of 5.1% to 2,207 units and GM with a decrease of 2.2% to 77,364 units.

OEMs built 378,583 light vehicles in Mexico in September 2024, resulting in a 11.7% increase compared to the 338,899 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
OEMs with production increases in September included GM with an increase of 37.0% to 92,000 units; Nissan with an increase of 15.9% to 57,683 units; Chrysler with an increase of 2.4% to 38,120 units; VW with an increase of 12.1% to 35,489 units; Kia with an increase of 12.1% to 25,110 units; Mazda with an increase of 6.7% to 17,223 units; Honda with an increase of 56.7% to 21,764 units; Audi with an increase of 4.5% to 15,647 units; and JAC with an increase of 10.2% to 2,060 units.
OEMs whose production declined in September compared to the previous year are Mercedes-Benz with a decrease of 43.4% to 3,597 units; BMW Group with a decrease of 30.6% to 8,723 units; Ford with a decrease of 8.8% to 36,564 units; and Toyota with a decrease of 0.9% to 24,603 units.

Mexican auto production increase 8.3% in August 2024
OEMs built 352,615 light vehicles in Mexico in August 2024, resulting in an 8.3% increase compared to the 325,683 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
OEMs with production increases in August included Nissan with an increase of 7.6% to 64,449 units; GM with an increase of 8.6% to 58,356 units; VW with an increase of 8.1% to 37,902 units; Ford with an increase of 40.4% to 36,018 units; Kia with an increase of 10.2% to 26,990 units; Toyota with an increase of 3.0% to 26,500 units; Mazda with an increase of 32.8% to 18,850 units; Honda with an increase of 36.3% to 18,839 units; and Mercedes Benz with an increase of 5.0% to 6,075 units.
OEMs whose production declined in August compared to the previous year are BMW Group with a decrease of 19.2% to 7,527 units; Audi with a decrease of 17.0% to 9,964 units; Chrysler with a decrease of 10.9% to 39,432 units; and JAC with a decrease of 1.6% to 1,713 units.
Cumulative production for the eight months of the year were up 5.3% y/y to 2,651,060 units.

Mexican auto production increases 2.7% in July 2024
OEMs built 302,309 light vehicles in Mexico in July 2024, resulting in a 2.7% increase compared to the 294,350 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
OEMs with production increases in July included GM with an increase of 45.3% to 66,138 units; Honda with an increase of 60.2% to 24,813 units; JAC with an increase of 25.5% to 2,074 units; Kia with an increase of 25.4% to 21,200 units; Audi with an increase of 23.8% to 17,359 units; and Toyota with an increase of 1.7% to 20,191 units.
OEMs whose production declined in July compared to the previous year are Ford with a decrease of 43.2% to 19,451 units; BMW Group with a decrease of 31.6% to 8,237 units; Chrysler with a decrease of 12.0% to 27,331 units; Nissan with a decrease of 11.0% to 42,494 units; Mazda with a decrease of 5.8% to 15,728 units; Mercedes with a decrease of 5.5% to 7,088 units; and VW with a decrease of 4.5% to 30,205 units.
Cumulative production for the seven months of the year were up 4.9% y/y to 2,298,445 units.

OEMs with production increases in June included GM with an increase of 38.8% to 66,126 units; Mercedes-Benz with an increase of 14.2% to 5,591 units; Chrysler with an increase of 14.0% to 36,117 units; Honda with an increase of 29.5% to 20,658 units; Ford with an increase of 0.5% to 38,379 units; and Nissan with an increase of 0.3% to 60,471 units.
OEMs whose production declined in June compared to the previous year BMW Group with a decrease of 29.7% to 8,596 units; JAC with a decrease of 23.6% to 1,258 units; Toyota with a decrease of 14.2% to 21,742 units; Kia with a decrease of 12.2% to 20,900 units; VW with a decrease of 11.1% to 32,932 units; Mazda with a decrease of 5.8% to 15,433 units; and Audi with a decrease of 3.5% to 16,003 units.

Mexican auto production increases 21.7% in April 2024
OEMs built 358,575 light vehicles in Mexico in April 2024, resulting in a 21.7% increase compared to the 294,550 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
OEMs with production increases in April included JAC with an increase of 85.5% to 2,613 units; Nissan with an increase of 51.9% to 55,892 units; VW with an increase of 39.4% to 36,012 units; GM with an increase of 36.5% to 82,038 units; Kia with an increase of 30.1% to 24,200 units; Ford with an increase of 29.5% to 38,392 units; Mazda with an increase of 24.0% to 17,496 units; and Honda with an increase of 18.1% to 13,635 units.
OEMs whose production declined in April compared to the previous year included Mercedes Benz with a decrease of 27.3% to 4,742 units; BMW Group with a decrease of 26.0% to 7,246 units; Toyota with a decrease of 10.2% to 21,461 units; Audi with a decrease of 4.0% to 15,341 units; and Chrysler with a decrease of 2.0% to 39,507 units.
Cumulative production for the four months of the year were up 5.7% y/y to 1,286,356 units.

OEMs with production increases in March included Honda with an increase of 20.5% to 14,759 units; GM with an increase of 7.4% to 69,216 units; and Mercedes-Benz with an increase of 1.4% to 5,311 units.
OEMs whose production declined in March compared to the previous year included Chrysler with a decrease of 35.6% to 31,921 units; Mazda with a decrease of 27.5% to 16,450 units; Audi with a decrease of 25.9% to 11,558 units; Ford with a decrease of 24.7% to 24,543 units; Toyota with a decrease of 20.9% to 16,150 units; Nissan with a decrease of 12.2% to 50,810 units; Kia with a decrease of 10.9% to 19,700 units; BMW with a decrease of 6.7% to 7,815 units and VW with a decrease of 3.5% to 32,258 units.
Cumulative production for the three months of the year were up 0.6% y/y to 927,781 units.

OEMs built 318,735 light vehicles in Mexico in February 2024, resulting in a 7.8% increase compared to the 295,787 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
OEMs with production increases in February included GM with a 6.2% increase to 71,923 units; Nissan with a 19.2% increase to 55,737 units; Volkswagen with a 73.3% increase to 37,627 units; Ford with a 55.7% increase to 30,891 units; Kia with a 0.8% increase to 19,750 units; Mazda with a 3.9% increase to 17,342 units; Honda with a 23.7% increase to 16,537 units; BMW with a 25.7% increase to 8,792 units ; and JAC with a 49.1% increase to 2,356 units.
OEMs whose production declined in February compared to the previous year included Chrysler with a 18.5% decrease to 34,570 units; Toyota with a 39.5% decrease to 12,452 units; Audi with a 57.0% decrease to 5,705 units and Mercedes-Benz with a 3.3% decrease to 5,053 units.
Cumulative production for the two months of the year were up 8.6% y/y to 625,804 units.

OEMs built 307,069 light vehicles in Mexico in January 2024, resulting in a 9.6% increase compared to the 280,266 units built in the same month of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
OEMs with production increases in January included GM with a 19.9% increase to 67,335 units; Nissan with a 25.0% increase to 56,567 units; Chrysler with a 1.9% increase to 37,617 units; Ford with a 55.2% increase to 34,362 units; Volkswagen with a 93.1% increase to 29,582 units; Honda with a 77.8% increase to 18,662 units and BMW with an 80.2% increase to 9,223 units.
OEMs whose production declined in January compared to the previous year included Mazda with a 2.1% decrease to 18,518 units; Kia with a 30.4% decrease to 15,800 units; Toyota with a 67.4% decrease to 7,727 units and Mercedes-Benz with a 0.2% decrease to 5,053 units; Audi with a 74.1% decrease to 4,109 units and JAC with a 5.5% decrease to 2,514 units.
On February 8, Mexican multiple media reported that AMIA estimated to produce more than four million vehicles in 2024, in addition to exporting between 3 million and 3.5 million units.
For the full year of 2023, Mexican production increased by 14.2% to 3,779,234 units, while exports grew by 15.2% to 3,300,876 units.
