Mexico auto production up 4.4 % in December, up 9.2% for full-year 2022
OEMs built 239,536 light vehicles in Mexico in December 2022, a 4.4% increase from the same month in 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) on January 9.
OEMs with production increases in December include Audi with a 315.3% increase to 14,099 units; Ford with a 12.5% increase to 22,583 units; GM with a 22.1% increase to 53,049 units; JAC with a 92.4% increase to 2,365 units; Kia with a 24.1% increase to 16,500 units, Mazda with a 100.2% increase to 13,243 units, and Nissan with a 7.6% increase to 33,775 units.
OEMs which declined in December compared to the previous year included BMW with a 24.3% decrease to 5,206 units; Chrysler with a 6.9% decrease to 31,590 units; Honda with a 45.3% decrease to 6,414 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 37.9% decrease to 2,618 units; Toyota with a 3.9% decrease to 15,297 units; and VW with a 38.8% decrease to 22,797 units.
The 3,308,346 total units produced in full-year 2022 were up 9.2% from 2021.
OEMs with production increases for all of 2022 include Audi with a 29.5% increase to 178,000 units; Chrysler with a 2.0% increase to 414,952 units; Ford with a 39.0% increase to 303,419 units; GM with a 31.0% increase to 743,246 units; JAC with a 446.2% increase to 17,074 units; Kia with a 20.8% increase to 265,000 units, Mazda with a 16.3% increase to 148,098 units, Mercedes-Benz with a 17.8% increase to 87,562 units, Toyota with a 20.7% increase to 268,344 units and VW with a 2.5% increase to 301,865 units.
OEMs which declined compared to full-year 2022 included BMW with a 7.9% decrease to 63,465 units; Honda with a 17.0% decrease to 126,319 units; and Nissan with a 27.1% decrease to 391,002 units.

Mexican auto production rises 8.0% in November
OEMs built 278,824 light vehicles in Mexico in November 2022, resulting in a 8.0% increase compared to the 258,078 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in November included Audi with a 42.9% increase to 14,285 units; BMW with a 77.7% increase to 7,025 units; Ford with a 68.1% increase to 23,643 units, General Motors with a 43.4% increase to 71,195 units; JAC with a 10,741.7% increase to 1,301 units; Kia with a 14.9% increase to 22,400 units; Mazda with a 33.2% increase to 14,016 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 75.2% increase to 5,625 units; and Volkswagen with a 15.4% increase to 26,176 units.
OEMs which declined in November compared to the previous year included Chrysler with a 26.2% decrease to 32,957 units; Honda with a 51.5% decrease to 7,459 units and Nissan with a 23.6% decrease to 31,720 units.

Mexico auto production up 8.0% in October
OEMs built 278,506 light vehicles in Mexico in October 2022, resulting in an 8.0% increase compared to the 257,824 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in October included GM with a 132.9% increase to 58,291 units; Ford with a 24.4% increase to 27,205 units; Toyota with a 17.6% increase to 26,305 units, Kia with a 59.1% increase to 22,750 units; Audi with a 72.3% increase to 19,000 units; Mazda with a 29.6% increase to 14,648 units; BMW with a 79.3% increase to 8,461 units and JAC with a 1,491.7% increase to 2,101 units .
OEMs which declined in October compared to the previous year included Chrysler with a 34.6% decrease to 29,537 units; Nissan with a 46.2% decrease to 28,997 units; VW with a 5.8% decrease to 24,364 units and Honda with a 30.1% decrease to 9,604 units and Mercedes-Benz with 13.7% decrease to 7,243 units.
INEGI reported that cumulative production in the first three months of 2022 were up 9.8% y/y to 2,789,988 units.

OEMs built 273,329 light vehicles in Mexico in September 2022, resulting in a 31.4% increase compared to the 208,092 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in September included Audi with a 44.4% increase to 16,452 units; BMW with a 43.1% increase to 6,633 units; Ford with a 24.4% increase to 29,976 units, General Motors with a 147.2% increase to 50,965 units; JAC with a 934.8% increase to 2,049 units; Kia with a 19.2% increase to 23,250 units; Mazda with a 59.1% increase to 15,633 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 99.5% increase to 7,862 units and Toyota with a 107.3% increase to 25,257 units..
OEMs which declined in September compared to the previous year included Chrysler with a 3.9% decrease to 35,417 units; Honda with a 5.0% decrease to 11,965 units; Nissan with a 9.3% decrease to 27,712 units and VW with a 7.2% decrease to 20,158 units.

Mexico auto production up 31.4% in August
OEMs built 316,815 light vehicles in Mexico in August 2022, resulting in a 31.4% increase compared to the 241,178 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in August included Audi with a 24.3% increase to 16,090 units; BMW with a 4.4% increase to 6,957 units; Chrysler with a 11.7% increase to 43,626 units; Ford with a 64.7% increase to 26,104 units, General Motors with a 119.0% increase to 70,874 units; JAC with a 369.4% increase to 737 units; Kia with a 20.2% increase to 24,400 units; Mazda with a 95.4% increase to 14,400 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 223.6% increase to 9,833 units; Toyota with a 41.3% increase to 24,214 units and VW with a 37.5% increase to 32,601 units.
OEMs which declined in August compared to the previous year included Honda with a 24.7% decrease to 11,776 units and Nissan with a 25.1% decrease to 35,203 units.

Mexico auto production rises 10.5% in July
OEMs built 259,994 light vehicles in Mexico in July 2022, resulting in a 10.5% increase compared to the 235,380 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in July included GM with a 27.3% increase to 65,747 units; Chrysler with a 12.1% increase to 37,443 units; Volkswagen with a 102.7% increase to 37,086 units, Kia with a 35.1% increase to 20,000 units; Ford with a 25.3% increase to 17,832 units; Mazda with a 9.3% increase to 13,670 units and JAC with a 617.7% increase to 1,543 units.
OEMs which declined in July compared to the previous year included Nissan with a 39.5% decrease to 23,509 units; Toyota with a 0.4% decrease to 18,218 units; Audi with a 5.4% decrease to 11,019 units; Honda with a 4.3% decrease to 10,539 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 31.4% decrease to 3,323 units and BMW with a 98.8% decrease to 65 units.
INEGI reported that cumulative production in the first seven months of 2022 were up 4.8% y/y to 1,921,338 units.

Mexico auto production up 6.0% in June, up 3.9% in H1 2022
OEMs built 285,318 light vehicles in Mexico in June 2022, resulting in a 6.0% increase compared to the 269,156 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in June included BMW with a 3.0% increase to 5,825 units; Chrysler with a 3.0% increase to 33,874 units; Ford with a 12.0% increase to 22,783 units, General Motors with a 9.5% increase to 76,291 units; JAC with a 500.0% increase to 1,122 units; Kia with a 37.6% increase to 26,000 units; Mazda with a 11.6% increase to 12,541 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 78.5% increase to 10,388 units; Toyota with a 6.0% increase to 21,662 units; and VW with a 248.9% increase to 27,728 units.
OEMs which declined in June compared to the previous year included Audi with a 59.6% decrease to 6,568 units; Honda with a 53.5% decrease to 7,099 units; and Nissan with a 25.0% decrease to 33,437 units.
In the first six months of 2022, OEMs built 1,661,346 light vehicles, a 3.9% increase from the 1,598,592 vehicles built in the first half of 2021.

OEMs built 275,436 light vehicles in Mexico in May 2022, resulting in a 15.2% increase compared to the 239,047 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in May included Audi with a 10.8% increase to 16,630 units; Stellantis with a 28.8% increase to 36,602 units; Ford with a 74.0% increase to 23,719 units, Kia with a 0.2% increase to 23,800 units; JAC with a 2,550.9% increase to 1,511 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 9.6% increase to 9,173 units, Toyota with a 45.3% increase to 27,463 vehicles, and VW with a 40.8% increase to 28,556 units.
OEMs which declined in May compared to the previous year included BMW with a 47.5% decrease to 3,223 units; Honda with a 69.0% decrease to 3,274 units; Mazda with a 31.8% decrease to 7,075 units; and Nissan with a 12.6% decrease to 37,772 units.

Mexico auto production falls 6.6% in April
OEMs built 251,547 light vehicles in Mexico in April 2022, resulting in a 6.6% decrease compared to the 269,265 units built in
the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in April included Audi with a 13.3% increase to 14,871 units; Chrysler with a 52.3% increase to 42,433 units; Ford with a 6.2% increase to 24,670 units, Kia with an 12.4% increase to 20,800 units; JAC with a 482.6% increase to 1,171 units; and Toyota with a 0.5% increase to 19,589 vehicles.
OEMs which declined in April compared to the previous year included BMW with a 9.3% decrease to 5,570 units; General Motors with a 35.8% decrease to 43,111 units; Honda with a 6.0% decrease to 10,621 units; Mazda with an 49.9% decrease to 4,958 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 33.6% decrease to 6,264 units; Nissan with a 12.5% decrease to 34,307 units; and VW with a 2.1% decrease to 23,182 units.

Mexico auto production increases 0.8% in March
OEMs built 305,976 light vehicles in Mexico in March 2022, resulting in a 0.8% increase compared to the 303,515 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
The OEMs with production increases in March included Audi with a 11.9% increase to 17,559 units; Chrysler with a 28.4% increase to 41,396 units; Ford with a 27.2% increase to 32,173 units, GM with a 19.0% increase to 68,132 units, Honda with an 88.0% increase to 16,679 units; JAC with a 1,433.3% increase to 1,104 units; and Toyota with a 29.0% increase to 23,889 vehicles.
OEMs which declined in March compared to the previous year included BMW with a 25.4% decrease to 5,277 units; Kia with a 5.4% decrease to 21,000 units; Mazda with a 19.0% decrease to 12,258 units; Mercedes-Benz with an 8.2% decrease to 9,149 units; Nissan with a 55.4% decrease to 26,367 units; and VW with a 3.3% decrease to 30,993 units.
INEGI reported that cumulative production in the first three months of 2022 were up 3.4% y/y to 849,045 units.

OEMs built 240,479 light vehicles in Mexico in February 2022, resulting in a 0.7% increase compared to the 238,904 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in February included Audi with a 24.7% increase to 13,963 units; Chrysler with a 18.2% increase to 28,468 units; Ford with a 39.9% increase to 24,199 units, Honda with a 22.4% increase to 14,886 units; JAC with a 285.5% increase to 825 units; Kia with a 16.7% increase to 19,600 units; Mazda with a 32.1% increase to 12,285 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 33.3% increase to 8,720 units; and Toyota with a 41.0% increase to 24,183 vehicles.
OEMs which declined in February compared to the previous year included BMW with a 69.9% decrease to 1,697 units; GM with a 11.7% decrease to 36,703 units; Nissan with a 16.2% decrease to 41,378 units; and VW with a 50.8% decrease to 13,572 units.

OEMs built 253,366 light vehicles in Mexico in January 2022, resulting in a 9.1% decrease compared to the 278,703 units built in the same month of 2021, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in January included Audi with a 199.3% increase to 17,464 units; BMW with a 30.3% increase to 7,526 units; Ford with a 243.9% increase to 28,532 units, Honda with a 14.7% increase to 16,003 units; JAC with a 175.4% increase to 1,245 units; Kia with a 15.0% increase to 24,500 units; Mazda with a 1.3% increase to 13,371 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 12.1% increase to 7,364 units; and Toyota with a 11.7% increase to 21,249 vehicles.
OEMs which declined in January compared to the previous year included Stellantis with a 24.0% decrease to 21,609 units; GM with a 33.7% decrease to 43,026 units; Nissan with a 36.1% decrease to 36,825 units; and VW with a 56.1% decrease to 14,652 units.
