Mexico auto production declines 20.3% in November
OEMs built 248,960 light vehicles in Mexico in November 2021, resulting in a 20.3% decrease compared to the 312,184 units built in the same month of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in November included only Ford, with a 31.0% increase to 14,069 units, Honda with a 19.1% increase to 15,382 vehicles, and Toyota with a 26.9% increase to 22,926 vehicles.
OEMs which declined in November compared to the previous year included Audi with a 22.8% decrease to 9,994 units; BMW with a 42.0% decrease to 3,954 units; Chrysler with an 8.5% decrease to 44,646 units; GM with a 43.7% decrease to 40,534 units; JAC with a 96.5% decrease to 12 units; Kia with a 7.1% decrease to 19,500 units; Mazda with a 33.9% decrease to 10,522 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 69.2% decrease to 3,210 units; Nissan with a 27.2% decrease to 41,525 units; and VW with a 9.7% decrease to 22,686 units.

Mexico auto production decreases 25.9% in October
OEMs built 257,813 light vehicles in Mexico in October 2021, resulting in a 25.9% decrease compared to the 347,906 units built in the same month of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The continuing global shortage of semiconductors affected production of many OEMs.
The OEMs with production increases in October included Ford with a 1284.6% increase to 21,877 units and Toyota with a 6.4% increase to 22,372 units.
OEMs which declined in October compared to the previous year included Audi with a 32.3% decrease to 11,027 units; BMW with a 31.0% decrease to 4,719 units; Chrysler with a 9.7% decrease to 45,160 units; GM with a 68.6% decrease to 25,018 units; Honda with a 8.1% decrease to 13,741 units; JAC production at Giant Motors with a 31.3% decrease to 132 units; Kia with a 38.4% decrease to 14,300 units; Mazda with a 24.3% decrease to 11,300 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 30.7% decrease to 8,393 units; Nissan with a 17.8% decrease to 53,918 units and VW with a 37.6% decrease to 25,856 units.

Mexico auto production decreases 33.3% in September
OEMs built 208,092 light vehicles in Mexico in September 2021, resulting in a 33.3% decrease compared to the 311,974 units built in the same month of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The continuing global shortage of semiconductors affected production of many OEMs.
The OEMs with production increases in September included only Ford, with a 7338.0% increase to 24,099 units.
JAC production at Giant Motors was essentially flat, building a similar 198 units to what it had last September.
OEMs which declined in September compared to the previous year included Audi with a 32.1% decrease to 11,391 units; BMW with a 29.7% decrease to 4,635 units; Chrysler with a 29.7% decrease to 36,848 units; GM with a 73.0% decrease to 20,619 units; Honda with a 1.5% decrease to 12,593 units; Kia with a 1.5% decrease to 19,500 units; Mazda with a 35.3% decrease to 9,828 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 62.6% decrease to 3,941 units; Nissan with a 39.0% decrease to 30,545 units; Toyota with a 35.4% decrease to 12,182 units; and VW with a 32.2% decrease to 21,713 units.

Mexico auto production decreases 21.4% in August on chip shortage
OEMs built 237,040 light vehicles in Mexico in August 2021, resulting in a 21.4% decrease compared to the 301,739 units built in the same month of 2020 due to the delays in the supply of semiconductors for the automotive industry and logistics problems affecting production of many OEMs, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in August included Kia with a 16.7% increase to 20,300 units; Ford with a 12477.0% increase to 15,847 units and Honda with a 4.4% increase to 15,634 units.
OEMs which declined in August compared to the previous year included Nissan with a 19.2% decrease to 46,974 units; Chrysler with a 20.0% decrease to 39,047 units; GM with a 59.2% decrease to 28,222 units; Volkswagen with a 23.2% decrease to 23,703 units; Toyota with a 0.8% decrease to 17,139 units; Audi with a 15.5% decrease to 12,948 units; Mazda with a 47.0% decrease to 7,369 units; BMW with a 5.5% decrease to 6,661 units and Mercedes-Benz with a 63.2% decrease to 3,039 units.

Mexico auto production decreases 26.5% in July on chip shortage
OEMs built 221,843 light vehicles in Mexico in July 2021, resulting in a 26.5% decrease compared to the 301,815 units built in the same month of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The continuing global shortage of semiconductors affected production of many OEMs.
The OEMs with production increases in July included Chrysler with a 5.1% increase to 33,396 units; Kia with a 5.7% increase to 14,800 units; Mazda with a 23.7% increase to 12,511 units; and Toyota with an 11.6% increase to 18,285 units.
OEMs which declined in July compared to the previous year included Audi with a 11.4% decrease to 11,643 units; BMW with a 6.2% decrease to 5,641 units; Ford with a 47.3% decrease to 14,231 units; GM with a 53.6% decrease to 38,117 units; Honda with a 12.9% decrease to 11,014 units; JAC with a 46.4% decrease to 215 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 28.7% decrease to 4,841 units; Nissan with a 9.7% decrease to 38,857 units and VW with a 52.4% decrease to 18,292 units.

Mexico auto production increases 5.5% in June
OEMs built 263,955 light vehicles in Mexico in June 2021, resulting in a 5.5% increase compared to the 250,158 units built in the same month of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The continuing global shortage of semiconductors affected production of some OEMs.
The OEMs with production increases in June included Audi with a 689.1% increase to 16,248 units, BMW with a 63.6% increase to 5,656 units, Ford with a 1.8% increase to 20,349 units, Honda with an 18.4% increase to 15,257 units, Kia with a 22.3% increase to 18,900 units, Mazda with a 25.4% increase to 11,233 units, Nissan with a 27.6% increase to 44,575 units, and Toyota with an 29.8% increase to 20,441 units.
OEMs which declined in June compared to the previous year included Chrysler with a 27.7% decrease to 32,903 units; GM with a 13.0% decrease to 64,441 units; JAC with a 51.4% decrease to 187 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 24.9% decrease to 5,818 units; and VW with an 11.1% decrease to 7,947 units.

The OEMs with production increases in May included GM with a 391.2% increase to 44,060 units; Nissan with a 1,935.6% increase to 43,236; Chrysler with an 763.3% increase to 28,411 units; Volkswagen with 20,282 units; Kia with an 769.6% increase to 20,000 units; Toyota with a 408.9% increase to 18,897 units; Audi with 15,011 units; Ford with a 2,088.6% increase to 13,635 units; Honda with an 1,036.5% increase to 12,967 units; Mazda with a 10,593.8% increase to 10,373 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 3,034.8% increase to 8,370 units; BMW with a 1,728.3% increase to 6,143 units and JAC with 57 units.

Mexico auto production increases 7,132.1% in April
OEMs built 269,180 light vehicles in Mexico in April 2021, resulting in a 7,132.1% increase according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
By comparison, all OEMs built a total of 3,722 vehicles in April 2020 when coronavirus had shut down nearly all production, except for Kia, which assembled 3,704 units in early April, and Ford, which assembled 18 units.
The OEMs with production increases in April included GM with 67,095 units; Nissan with 39,190 unites; Chrysler (Stellantis)*with 27,867 units; VW with 23,690 units; Ford with a 129005.6% increase to 23,239 units; Toyota with 19,486 units; Kia with 399.5% increase to 18,500 units; Audi with 13,129 unitsx; Honda with 11,303 units; Mazda with 9,904 units; Mercedes-Benz with 9,432 unites; BMW with 6,144 unites and JAC with 201 units.

Mexico auto production increases 12.5% in March
OEMs built 303,545 light vehicles in Mexico in March 2021, resulting in a 12.5% increase compared to the 269,774 units built in the same month of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in March included Nissan with a 27.4% increase to 59,144 units; Chrysler (Stellantis)* with a 4.6% increase to 32,245; VW with an 8.2% increase to 32,050 units; Ford with a 56.3% increase to 25,285 units; Toyota with an 60.9% increase to 18,519 units; Audi with a 82.2% increase to 15,687 units; Mazda with a 13.0% increase to 15,139 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 48.7% increase to 10,021 units and BMW with a 63.7% increase to 7,074 units.
OEMs which declined in March compared to the previous year included GM with a 13.8% decrease to 57,239 units; Kia with a 14.6% decrease to 22,200 unites; Honda with a 5.0% decrease to 8,870 units and JAC with a 82.0% decrease to 72 units.

Mexico auto production falls 28.8% in February due to gas outages, chip shortages
OEMs built 238,868 light vehicles in Mexico in February 2021, resulting in a 28.8% decrease compared to the 335,708 units built in the same month of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
Gas shortages brought on by winter storms affected auto production in Mexico, as it had in many southern U.S. states in the month of February.
The continuing global shortage of semiconductors also acted to diminish production in many factories.
The OEMs with production increases in February included only BMW with a 16.0% increase to 5,636 units and Toyota with an 11.8% increase to 17,157 units.
OEMs which declined in February compared to the previous year included Audi with a 27.3% decrease to 11,193 units; Chrysler (Stellantis)* with a 53.1% decrease to 24,075; Ford with a 29.6% decrease to 17,296 units; GM with a 44.2% decrease to 41,575 units; Honda with a 4.6% decrease to 12,165 units; JAC with a 61.6% decrease to 214 units; Kia with a 20.0% decrease to 16,800 units; Mazda with a 43.1% decrease to 9,303 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 19.4% decrease to 6,508 units; Nissan with a 17.2% decrease to 49,364 units; and VW with an 11.7% decrease to 27,582 units.

Mexico auto production down 15.0% in January
OEMs built 278,711 light vehicles in Mexico in January 2021, resulting in a 15.0% decrease compared to the 328,085 units built in the same month of 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The OEMs with production increases in January included Nissan with an 0.4% increase to 57,617 units; Toyota with a 27.7% increase to 19,030 units; Honda with a 4.9% increase to 13,956 units and BMW with an 27.6% increase to 5,777 units.
OEMs which declined in January compared to the previous year included GM with a 14.8% decrease to 64,886 units; VW with a 9.6% decrease to 33,357 units; Chrysler (Stellantis)* with a 28.5% decrease to 28,431 units; Kia with an 12.3% decrease to 21,300 units; Mazda with a 31.1% decrease to 13,197 units; Ford Motor with a 65.9% decrease to 8,296 units; Mercedes-Benz with a 1.1% decrease to 6,578 units; Audi with a 42.5% decrease to 5,834; and a 16.5% decrease to 452 units for JAC-branded vehicles built by Giant Motors.
