Mexican production up 2.0%, exports up 0.3% in 2016
On January 9, the Mexican automotive association AMIA reported that 242,495 light vehicles were produced in Mexico in December 2016, a 8.8% increase in production over December 2015.
The production for the 2016 full year was 3,465,615 units, an increase of 2.0% from 2015.
Of the top three manufacturers in 2016, Nissan produced 848,088 units, an increase of 3.1%; GM produced 703,030 units, an increase of 1.8%; and FCA produced 459,116 units, a decrease of 8.8% from 2015.
Exports of 216,645 light vehicles in December represented an increase of 4.8% compared to exports in the same month last year.
Total exports for the 2016 full year was 2,768,268 units, an increase of 0.3% from 2015.
Of the top three manufacturers in export in 2016, GM exports decreased 0.1%, Nissan exports decreased 3.5%, FCA exports decreased 7.0%, Ford exports decreased 8.7%, and VW exports decreased 15.1%.
The United States and Canada accounted for 77.1% and 8.9%, respectively, of exported vehicles from Mexico in 2016. Exports to other destinations decreased.

Mexican production up 7.4%, exports up 9.6% in November
On December 6, the Mexican automotive association AMIA reported that 318,149 light vehicles were produced in Mexico in November 2016, a 7.4% increase in production over November 2015.
Total production for the first eleven months of 2016 was 3,223,120 units, an increase of 1.5% from the same period in 2015.
Of the top three manufacturers in November 2016, Nissan produced 74,122 units, an increase of 5.3%; GM produced 68,364 units, an increase of 7.9%; and FCA produced 43,504 units, a decrease of 4.9% from November 2015.
Exports of 245,330 light vehicles in November represented an increase of 9.6% compared to exports in the same month last year.
Total exports for the first eleven months of 2016 was 2,551,623 units, a decrease of 0.02% from the same period in 2015.
Compared to November 2015, GM exports increased 17.8%, FCA exports decreased 3.5%, Nissan exports decreased 11.8%, VW exports increased 1.0%, and Ford exports decreased 18.7%.
The United States and Canada accounted for 76.8% and 7.8%, respectively, of exported vehicles from Mexico in November.
Latin America accounted for 9.1% of Mexico’s exports.
Europe, Asia, and other regions accounted for 3.5%, 1.0%, and 1.7%, respectively, as export destinations for vehicles made in Mexico.

Mexican production up 0.5%, exports up 4.0% in October
On November 8, the Mexican automotive association AMIA reported that 328,490 light vehicles were produced in Mexico in October 2016, 0.5% more than those produced in October 2015.
Of the top three manufacturers in October 2016, Nissan produced 80,144 units, a decrease of 3.5%; GM produced 69,474 units, an increase of 2.7%; and FCA produced 44,952 units, a decrease of 2.9% from October 2015.
Total production for the first ten months of 2016 was 2,904,971 units, an increase of 0.9% from the same period in 2015.
Exports of 255,115 light vehicles in October represented an increase of 4.0% compared to exports in the same month last year.
Compared to October 2015, GM exports increased 8.3%, FCA exports increased 8.7%, Nissan exports decreased 6.4%, VW exports decreased 0.2%, and Ford exports decreased 36.9%.
The Americas accounted for 93.1% of exported vehicles from Mexico for the first ten months of 2016. Europe, Asia, and other regions accounted for 4.3%, 1.0%, and 1.5%, respectively, as export destinations for vehicles made in Mexico.

Mexican production up 2.4% in September, export up 8.8%
The Mexican auto industry association AMIA released September 2016 figures on October 6.
Car and light truck production of 285,344 units in September was up 2.4% from the same month last year. This is a record September production.
A total of 2,576,481 cars and light trucks were produced in the first nine months of 2016, an increase of 0.9% from last year.
September production by manufacturer is as follows: GM was up 8.6% to 68,950 units, and Nissan was down 6.7% to 65,681 units. FCA was up 8.0% to 44,556 units. Ford was up 16.5% to 37,361 units and Honda was up 5.4% to 20,805 units.

Exports of 235,612 light vehicles in September showed an increase of 8.8% year over year, and it is a monthly export record.
Exports by manufacturer are as follows: GM was up 9.1% to 54,500 units and FCA was up 17.9% to 42,449 units. Ford was up 11.2% to 33,988 units. Nissan was down 16.6% to 32,715 units and VW was down 24.4% to 18,578 units.
The destination of January-September export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 86.1%, went to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexican production up 13.9% in August, export up 11.9%
The Mexican auto industry association AMIA released August 2016 figures on September 7.
Car and light truck production of 332,769 units in August was up 13.9% from the same month last year. This is a record August production.
A total of 2,291,137 cars and light trucks were produced in the first eight months of 2016, an increase of 0.7% from last year.
August production by manufacturer is as follows: Nissan was up 10.5% to 81,688 units, and GM was up 4.0% to 68,362 units. VW was up 5.7% to 45,383 units. FCA was down 5.0% to 37,153 units and Ford was up 13.1% to 33,014 units.

Exports of 262,673 light vehicles in August showed an increase of 11.9% year over year, and it is a monthly export record.
Exports by manufacturer are as follows: GM was down 5.1% to 50,935 units and Nissan was down 7.3% to 43,278 units. FCA was down 5.1% to 41,774 units. VW was up 21.0% to 36,155 units and Ford was up 14.8% to 31,748 units.
The destination of January-August export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 85.6%, went to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexican production up 11.8% in July, export down 0.4%
The Mexican auto industry association AMIA released July 2016 figures on August 8.
Car and light truck production of 284,398 units in July was up 11.8% from the same month last year. This is a record July production.
A total of 1,958,368 cars and light trucks were produced in the first seven months of 2016, a decrease of 1.2% from last year.

Exports by manufacturer are as follows: FCA was up 11.7% to 43,807 units. GM was up 6.7% to 36,959 units and Nissan was down 12.0% to 36,802 units. VW was down 13.1% to 33,991 units and Ford was down 5.7% to 29,361 units.
The destination of January-July export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 85.6%, went to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexican production up 4.1% in June, export up 1.8%
The Mexican auto industry association AMIA released June 2016 figures on July 7.
Car and light truck production of 319,122 units in June was up 4.1% from the same month last year. A total of 1,673,970 cars and light trucks were produced in the first half of 2016, a decrease of 3.1% from last year.
June production by manufacturer is as follows: Nissan was up 6.2% to 78,125 units, and GM was up 1.3% to 60,239 units. FCA was up 5.2% to 46,372 units. VW was down 10.7% to 40,951 units and Ford was down 19.7% to 35,687 units.
For the first time Kia production figure appeared in the AMIA report. Kia' production in June was 10,567 units.

Exports of 247,005 light vehicles showed a increase of 1.8% compared to the number of vehicles exported last June.
Exports by manufacturer are as follows: Nissan was down 2.1% to 45,157 units and GM was down 7.3% to 43,061 units. FCA was up 5.0% to 37,763 units. Ford was down 12.5% to 37,439 units and VW was down 15.9% to 33,393 units.
The destination of first half export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 85.7%, went to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexican production down 3.1% in May
The Mexican auto industry association AMIA released May 2016 figures on June 6.
Car and light truck production of 279,508 units in May was down 3.1% from the same month last year. A total of 1,354,848 cars and light trucks were produced in the first five months of 2016, a decrease of 4.6% from last year.
May production by manufacturer is as follows: Nissan was down 0.8% to 69,721 units, and GM was down 0.6% to 59,292 units. FCA was down 18.1% to 34,072 units. VW was down 16.5% to 32,830 units and Ford was down 17.1% to 31,735 units.
AMIA explained that the decrease of production was due to the sales decrease in May in the North American market where an 86% of Mexican export volume was shipped in the first five months of 2016.

Exports of 226,240 light vehicles showed a decrease of 6.0% compared to the number of vehicles exported last May.
Exports by manufacturer are as follows: GM was up 1.9% to 45,082 units and Nissan was down 9.6% to 42,144 units. Ford was up 1.7% to 37,532 units. FCA was down 24.1% to 30,252 units and VW was down 18.0% to 29,985 units.
The destination of first five month export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 86.0%, went to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexican production down 4.9% in April
The Mexican auto industry association AMIA released April 2016 figures on May 9.
Car and light truck production of 269,604 units in April was down 4.9% from the same month last year. A total of 1,075,340 cars and light trucks were produced in the first four months of 2016, a decrease of 5.0% from last year.
April production by manufacturer are as follows: Nissan was up 7.9% to 70,517 units, and GM was down 1.2% to 58,358 units. VW was up 2.7% to 39,467 units. FCA was down 28.4% to 29,092 units and Ford was down 35.6% to 26,199 units.
AMIA explained that the decrease of production was due to the planned shutdown of some plants in early April.

Exports in April decreased along with production. Exports of 197,020 light vehicles showed a decrease of 15.6% compared to the number of vehicles exported last April.
Exports by manufacturer are as follows: GM was down 4.5% to 44,220 units and Nissan was up 12.9% to 39,243 units. FCA was down 23.8% to 28,899 units. VW was down 32.8% to 24,912 units and Ford was down 52.2% to 18,957 units.
The destination of first four month export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 86.2%, went to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexican production down 11% in March
The Mexican auto industry association AMIA released March 2016 figures on April 6.
Car and light truck production of 266,960 units in March was down 11.0% from the same month last year. A total of 805,736 cars and light trucks were produced in the first three months of 2016, a decrease of 5.1% from the first quarter of last year.
March production by manufacturer are as follows: Nissan was down 1.3% to 69,131 units, and GM was down 13.6% to 54,247 units. Ford was down 9.8% to 38,080 units. VW was down 25.0% to 32,817 units and FCA was down 41.4% to 26,122 units.
AMIA explained that the decrease of production was due to the move of Easter holidays. In 2016 the Easter holidays were in March while the Easter holidays in 2015 were in April. In addition, some plants stopped for updates of facilities around the holidays.

Exports in March decreased along with production. Exports of 224,184 light vehicles showed a decrease of 14.2% compared to the number of vehicles exported last March.
Exports by manufacturer are as follows: Nissan was down 0.3% to 51,228 units and GM was down 24.1% to 38,949 units. Ford was down 10.7% to 37,133 units. VW was down 24.5% to 28,658 units and FCA was down 40.4% to 27,350 units.
The destination of first three month export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 86.1%, went to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexican productions and exports down in February
The Asociacion Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (AMIA) released February 2016 figures on March 8.
Production of 271,278 light vehicles in February was down 4.1% from the 282,856 units produced in the same month last year.
Productions by manufacture are as follows: Nissan was up 9.3% to 71,479 units, GM was down 15.5% to 46,654 units, Ford was up 9.4% to 40,379 units, VW was down 12.2% to 39,459 units, and FCA was down 37.2% to 26,459 units.

Exports in February of 219,670 light vehicles also showed a decrease of 1.2% compared to the number of vehicles exported last February.
Exports by manufactures are as follows: Nissan was up 14.3% to 47,704 units, Ford was up 10.6% to 39,565 units, GM was down 17.4% to 35,518 units, VW was down 24.4% to 30,163 units, and FCA was down 20.6% to 25,781 units.
The destination of first two month export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 77.0%, went to the U.S. Canada and Germany account for 10.1% and 2.4% of the exports, respectively.
