On May 28, 2024, BYD announced its latest PHEV technology, the "5th Generation DM Technology," in which its R&D had been done in-house. This report mainly summarizes the content regarding the upgrade of power architecture, thermal management architecture, and E/E architecture used in the 5th generation DM (PHEV) technology.

Chairman Chuanfu WANG said that BYD has sold a cumulative total of 3.6 million PHEVs and that Chinese cars have become pioneers in global automotive technology innovation. Since 2000, BYD has invested a total of CNY 140 billion in R&D. Today, the research and development team has over 100,000 members. In 2021, the company began research and development on the 5th-generation DM technology to further reduce fuel consumption. Mr. Dongsheng YANG, Senior Vice President and Chief Designer of DM Technology at BYD Group, also revealed details of the 5th generation DM technology. He said the world-class fuel consumption is the result of a series of optimization efforts, with the technical team digging deep into the details.
