Summary
BYD announced on January 3, 2023, that its domestic sales volume in China in 2022 increased 212.8% year-over-year (y/y) to approximately 1,869,000 units. BYD held an online technical presentation of its new "Yangwang” premium brand on January 5. Furthermore, the brand, which develops vehicles priced in the CNY 1 million class, simultaneously launched its flagship off-road SUV, the U8 and the electric sports car U9, unveiled for the first time. Both models are equipped with the "Yisifang" platform technology, a four-motor independent drive architecture. This report describes the "Yangwang" models and the "Yisifang" platform technology.
