  According to BYD, 2023 sales volume increased by more than 60% year-over-year (y/y) to over 3.02 million units. As a result, the company became the global leader in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales. It also became the first Chinese automaker to break into the top 10 in terms of global sales volume. In 2023, NEV export sales increased 337% y/y to 243,000 units, making it the Chinese brand with the largest number of NEV exports.

  On January 16, 2024, BYD held the “2024 BYD Dream Day”. At the event, Chuanfu WANG, Chairman and President of BYD Auto Co., Ltd. announced the company's smart vehicle strategy, and also unveiled an ‘industry first’ new “Xuanji” Architecture integrating electrification with intelligence, the intelligent connected system "DiLnk," and the smart driver assistance system "DiPilot," and of other current R&D achievements. He also stated that the right direction for the development of smart NEVs is not only smart cockpits and smart driving, but also smart vehicles integrating electrification with intelligence.

  Furthermore, he emphasized that BYD's corporate culture is an engineering culture, and introduced a team of engineers representing each research field. BYD's strong R&D capabilities and spirit of technological innovation in the field of integrated vehicle intelligence became clear.
