 The following report describes the availability of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving features in Daimler, BMW and Audi’s model released (or to be released) in Europe. Equipment will be compared for 5 vehicles from each maker covering a range of types and sizes, including flagship models, sedans, coupes, and SUVs.

    Daimler (Mercedes-Benz brand models)
  • The face-lifted S-Class and E-Class are capable of level 2 automated driving
  • The 5 models covered in this report have basically the same Lane Tracking Package (the blind spot assist, lane keeping assist and others)
  • Each vehicle has a Driving Assistance Package, but specifics vary by model
    BMW (BMW brand models)
  • The 7 Series and new 5 Series are capable of level 2 automated driving
  • Offers various Driving Assistant Packages for vehicles ranging from the flagship model to compact vehicles
  • Also adopted Driving Assistant Plus Package for some models
    VW (Audi brand models)
  • The new A8 that is to be released in the fall of 2017 comes with numerous ADAS systems and will be capable of level 3 automated driving when governments pass related laws
  • ACC, automatic braking for vehicles and pedestrians, traffic jam assist system and lane keeping system are available for all the five models covered in this report
