History

Mar. 1945 With capital of 180,000 yen, established Yamakawa Bankin Kogyo as a company specializing in the processing of stamped sheet metal.
Oct. 1946 Began business with Nissan, to manufacture general stamped components for automobiles.
Jun. 1953 Moved headquarters and the plant to Gomishima, Fuji-shi, Shizuoka Pref. from Ohmiya, Fujinomiya-shi, Shizuoka Pref.
Mar. 1955 Began business with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
Mar. 1961 Renamed as Yamakawa Industries Inc. from Yamakawa Bankin Kogyo.
Apr. 1961 Established the Yokohama Plant in Totsuka-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa Pref. (currently the Kanagawa Plant)
Oct. 1964 Established Oppama Plant in Natsushimacho, Yokosuka-shi, Kanagawa Pref. (currently the Kanagawa Plant)
Dec. 1970 Established the Mooka Plant in Matsuyamacho, Mooka-shi, Tochigi Pref.
Jan. 1976 Established Katsuyama Press Kogyo (currently Unipres Kyushu Corporation, a consolidated subsidiary) in Katsuyamacho, Miyako-gun, Fukuoka Pref. as the product process manufacturer for the NISSAN Kyushu Plant.
Mar. 1995 Established Yamakawa Manufacturing de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (currently Unipres Mexicana, S.A. de C.V., as a consolidated subsidiary. hereafter called Unipres Mexico) in San Francisco de Los Romo, Aguasquarientes, Mexico.
Apr. 1999 Merged and took over Nissan Yamato Engineering Ltd. (currently Unipres UK Limited), a subsidiary, and hereafter called Unipres England which was established in October 1986 in Sunderland, U.K.
Apr. 1999 Merged with Yamato Kogyo Co., Ltd., located in Shimotsuruma, Yamato-shi, and changed the company name to Unipres Corporation from Yamakawa INDUSTRIES INC.
Jan. 2002 Set up Unipres Southeast U.S.A Inc. (UPSA), as a consolidated company, in Forest, Mississippi, USA.
Jul. 2002 Established Unipres Europe SAS in Neuilly sur Seine, France.
Jan. 2003 Established UM Corporation, SAS in Pas de Calais, France.
Jul. 2003 Established Unipres North America, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. (currently a consolidated subsidiary)
Oct. 2003 Cosmo Techno Corporation (a subsidiary of the Company) gained 100% of the voting rights of Sotoyama Kogyo Co., Ltd., which is located in Fuji City, Shizuoka Pref.
Oct. 2003 Established Unipres Guangzhou Corporation in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. (Now a consolidated subsidiary)
Feb. 2004 Listed on the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Mar. 2004 Acquired ISO14001:1996.

Apr. 2005 YSM and Unipres Hiroshima merged, becoming Unipres Mold Corp.

Sep. 2006 Established a tool plant at Unipress Guangzhou Corporation.
Oct. 2008 Established a joint venture, Unipres India Private Limited, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India with Marubeni Corporation. The new company is a consolidated subsidiary.
Jul. 2009 Established a non-consolidated subsidiary, Unipres (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand.
Oct. 2009 Established Unipres Precision Guangzhou Corporation in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. The new company is a joint venture with Unipres Guangzhou Corporation and a consolidated subsidiary.
Jun. 2010 Made Unipres Kyushu Corporation a wholly owned subsidiary after acquiring additional shares from Mitsuike Corporation.
Apr. 2011 Constructed Unipres R&D Co., Ltd. in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Jul. 2011 Established PT. Unipres Indonesia, a consolidated subsidiary, in West Java.

Jun. 2019 Acquired additional stock shares in UM Corporation from MA Automotive, turning the company into a subsidiary.
Aug. 2019 Established Unipres Wuhan Corporation in Wuhan, Hubei Province; as Unipres China’s wholly owned, consolidated subsidiary in China.
