History

Jun. 1949 Established as Nagoya Rubber Co., the second company spun off from Kokka Koygyo Co., Ltd., and consisting of the Nagoya and Okazaki plants. Establishment was the result of the Corporate Reconstruction Law.
Mar. 1952 Shut down the Okazaki Plant and merged it with the Nagoya Plant.
May 1957 Established the Kasuga Plant in Aichi Prefecture.
Aug. 1973 Changed Company name to Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd.
Dec. 1978 Listed on the Second Section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange.
Jan. 1980 Moved headquarters to current location in Aichi Prefecture.
Oct. 1983 Listed on the First Section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange.
Mar. 1986 Established Technical Center in its current location in Inazawa City.
Apr. 1986 Established TG Inc. (currently a consolidated subsidiary). In July 1999, the company changed its name to TG Missouri Corporation).
1997 Obtained ISO 9001 certification for brake hoses.
1999 All plants ISO 14001 certified.
Mar. 1999 Listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Mar. 2000 Acquired a fuel tank and fuel hose company in England from Eagle Pitcher (Ohio, USA) for approx. 2.1 billion yen and made them into 100% subsidiaries. With the first overseas expansion in the fuel hose segment, the Company's market share grew from 6% to 9% making it the No. 2 group. Also, enabled module production of fuel supply systems.
Apr. 2000 Established a local corporation in Thailand, Toyota Gosei Rubber Thailand to manufacture and sell automotive rubber functional components and sealing components with capital of 1.2 billion yen (70% invested by Toyota Gosei, 30% by Ponpara Codan Rubber (PCR).
Aug. 2000 Established a new plant, TG Opsead Co., Ltd. in Hikisa-gun, Shizuoka with capital of 60 million yen (60% invested by Toyota Gosei and 40% by Koha Co., Ltd.)
Sep. 2000 Established a new company, TG Mint, in Ontario, Canada. Capital of 1.5 billion yen was all invested by the North American holding company. The 6th production facility in North America and 22nd overseas. In December 2001 started manufacturing console boxes, dash panels, and instrument panel components.
Nov. 2000 Established a local corporation, TG Europe, in Belgium.
Nov. 2000 Invested in Tianjin Starlight Rubber and Plastic Co., Ltd. in China, a grandchild company of Kinugawa Rubber Industrial (42% invested by Kinugawa, 40% by Toyota Gosei and 18% by Tianjin). Produces body, and door glass rubber seals
Jan. 2001 Conducted a reorganization targeted at fully developing an independent division system. To clarify each operation's business line, renamed Weather-strip Operations as Body Sealing Operations and Airbag Steering Wheel Operations as Safety System Operations. Established Intellectual Property Operations to reinforce patents.
Jan. 2001 Merged TG North America and TG Technical Center on Jan. 1, 2001 (continued operations as TG North America) (currently a consolidated subsidiary)
Mar. 2001 Established jointly with Toyota Tsusho, TG Safety Systems Czech, a manufacturer of automotive steering wheels and airbags to support Toyota's strengthening of its Europe strategy (80% by Toyota Gosei and 20% by Toyota Tsusho)
Apr. 2001 Invested in Diesel Safety Systems America in Kentucky, USA (66% invested by Diesel and 34% by Toyota Gosei). From July 2002, the Company will produce 80% or more of the inflator components for North America in the USA and import only a portion from Japan. The first overseas production of inflators by Diesel.
Apr. 2001 Conducted the opening ceremony for a manufacturing subsidiary in England, England Toyota Gosei. Manufactures automotive sealing products and supplies to Toyota's plant in France.
Jul. 2001 Advanced into the American market with Horie Kinzoku Kogyo to manufacture plastic fuel tanks. Planning to establish a local joint venture to start production of plastic fuel tanks in 2004 for NUMMI, a Toyota/GM joint venture.
Jul. 2001 Received a high-volume order for weatherstrips for the next Ford F-150, of one of Ford's main models, thereby starting the Company's first full-fledged transaction with Ford. Manufactures and supplies from Waterville TG in Canada. Planning to increase this plant's capacity. Aiming to surpass BTR and achieve a No. 1 share in 4 items: weatherstrips, airbags, steering wheels, and brake hoses.
Feb. 2002 The Company established FTS Co., Ltd. in Inazawa City.
The Company signed a transfer of sales agreement with Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., whereby the Company took over the airbag business from Toyo Tire & Rubber, and Toyoda Gosei's vibration- absorbing rubber business of was transferred to Toyo Tire & Rubber.
