Outlook
-Samvardhana Motherson Group targets to achieve USD 26 billion revenue by 2020. MSSL plans to achieve a topline of USD 18 billion by 2020. The company plans to achieve this target through both organic and inorganic measures. -The Group plans 40% of consolidated profit as dividend by 2020. The Group also targets that no country, customer or component should be more than 15% of its total turnover.
Acquisitions
-In April 2018, Samvardhana Motherson Automotive System Group BV (SMRPBV) has acquired Reydel Automotive Holding and Reydel Automotive Management for USD 201 million.
-In March 2017, Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd (MSSL) informs that it has acquired a 93.75% shareholding in Finland based PKC Group PLC for approximately EUR 571 million.
-In March 2017, Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group BV (SMRPBV) has acquired 100% of the issued share capital of German firm Kobek Siebdruck GmbH & Co. KG (Kobek) through its subsidiaries for a consideration amounts to EUR 1.6 million.

R&D Activities
-Samvardhana Motherson has a group company called Motherson Innovation that is tasked with developing new technologies and creating platforms for new ideas to be launched. It has R&D Centers & Business Development Locations in India, Japan, USA, UK, Australia and Germany.
-Through Its subsidiaries, Samvardhana Motherson Group hold approximately 900 patents. SMG has introduced several high-value solutions, including intelligent electronic mirrors (which has digital image processing built into rear view systems), new generation camera system as well as advanced driver assistance features.
-SMG focus research and development capabilities on four key areas
- Safety: Developing intelligent features to enhance passenger and pedestrian safety, such as integrated sensors, intelligent camera-based object detection solutions, lane departure warning systems and mirror-integrated blind spot warning lights, and mirror replacement camera monitoring systems.
- Environment: Using environmentally-friendly and recyclable materials and reducing component size and weight to minimize material and fuel consumption, such as through the application of lightweight natural fibers in interior systems.
- Performance/efficiency: Optimizing usability through smarter design, the use of new materials and the integration of attractive, value-added features such as vehicle occupant interface displays and controls.
- Aesthetics: Improving the aesthetic features of passenger cars through the introduction of new styling solutions, such as high gloss finishes and decorative metallized surfaces.
Joint Ventures
-In January 2018, Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group (SMRPBV), has formed a joint venture with the US-based Ossia, innovator of the revolutionary Cota Real Wireless Power technology. Apart from the JV, Motherson will also invest USD 14 million for a 4.5% equity stake in Ossia.
-Samvardhana Motherson Group has 26 joint venture partners.
