-The Company announced a development and release of a new digital tachograph "DTG3" on May 21, 2007, as a price competitive model with features focused on safety and energy-saving. The company is planning to market the new product targeting trucking companies, which are hesitating to install such gadgets largely due to cost problems. A tachometer is a data collecting device for truck and bus companies to control their commercial driving operations. The digital tachograph keeps digital records of driving information and allows the operators to take hold of and analyze data for several purposes, for example if drivers are driving safely, how much fuel they are consuming or how efficiently they are handling cargo. In reality, however, many companies are just deferring a decision on introduction, given costs and workloads involved. The Company, therefore, has developed a low-end product with a minimum of functions required most. (From an article in the Nikkan Jidosha Shimbun on May. 21, 2007)

-The Company revealed the AWS-300 advance warning system to support safety operation of trucks and buses, which will be released to transportation and other firms on August 1, 2007. An in-vehicle camera of the AWS-300 mounted on the back of the rear-view mirror or other places has following functions. 1) Following distance warning: Expected time for collision with the vehicle in front will be calculated based on driving speeds and the driver will be alarmed by images in three stages and buzz. 2) Front collision warning: In highly dangerous situations as sudden vehicle intrusion and sudden stop of a vehicle in front, blinking images and buzz will warn the driver. 3) Lane departure warning: When a driver departs from its lane or shifts lanes with no turn signal, it will be detected by the system as dangerous and images and buzz will warn the driver. Since the AWS-300 is targeted at the transportation industry including passenger carriers, it is not capable of detecting pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles. A Dutch supplier, Mobile I, developed a distance measuring logic and a camera module for image recognition. The Company developed applications and hardware as an in-vehicle device.
