Financial Overview

Gabriel India Limited
-Gabriel India's sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019 increased by 13.1% from INR 20,523.7 million in the previous fiscal year to INR 18,140.8 million. It reported a 3.8% growth in EBITDA, largely based the company’s investments in new technologies, quality culture, customer acquisitions and new markets.

 

Joint Ventures

-In June 2019, ANAND Group, announced the formation of a Tri-Party Joint Venture to merge the two Joint Ventures of Joyson Safety Systems (JSS) in India. KSS Abhishek Safety Systems Private Limited  which is a Joint Venture of JSS with Abhishek Group is being merged with Takata India Pvt. Ltd , a Joint Venture between ANAND Group and JSS. The new Tri Party Joint Venture will be called “Joyson ANAND Abhishek Safety Systems Private Limited”.

Outlook

-Gabriel India targets to be amongst the top 5 shock absorber manufacturers in the world by 2025. The Company is growing focus on electrification across the 2 & 3 - Wheeler segments. For passenger vehicle segment, Gabriel India will focus on cost optimisation and quality enhancement to enter the global platform and deliver FTR (first time right) and ETR (every time right) in line with SOP planned during FY2019- 20. For Commercial vehicles, The Company will focus on enhancing Export revenues by engaging with global OEMs and focusing on the EU and the US markets. Company intends to penetrate deeper into the HD segment, leveraging the technological knowhow of KONI.

R&D Structure

Gabriel India Limited
-During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019, Gabriel India announced that modern R&D setup focused on passenger cars, commercial vehicles and railways is planned in FY 2019-2020 at Chakan. This new technology center will augment the new product development, testing facility & customer service for the future market. This will be developed by investing INR 150 million over period of two years. There are further plans to increase facilities over next few years to meet the future market.

Mahle Behr India
-During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019, Mahle Behr India accomplished performance evaluation of an engine cooling module designed for heavy duty commercial vehicles. It also started its first project with Mahindra Electric for the development of a thermal solution for e- Verito vehicle.

 

R&D Activities

-The following are specific areas of R&D that Gabriel India focused on in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019:

  • Advanced damper technology for the enhanced user experience
  • CO2 footprint reduction through product light weighting and use of green technologies
  • Virtual analysis for structural durability assessment of components
  • Implementation of product life cycle management (PLM) to increase the reuse of existing components & to improve productivity
  • NVH measurement and reduction techniques to address noise issues in the new generation vehicles.
  • Continuation of filing of product and process related patents

-R&D facilities for ride control products for 2 & 3 - Wheelers at Hosur and Nashik are being upgraded and expanded with improved capabilities in design, engineering, validation and testing. The Company added bench testing equipment to its R&D facilities with the objective to improve capacity and testing capability. The Company is working on various innovation projects to develop new products and features that will be implemented in India for the first time.

 

Investments in India

Mahle Behr India
-Mahle Behr India (MBIPL) engineering team installed a sonic tester at Chakan plant, to identify the baffle leak in evaporators. The equipment works on ultrasonic principles and helps identify micro leakages up to 0.0005 mm with a cycle time of less than 2 seconds. With an extended operating range up to 6,000 rpm, and increased measurement accuracy below 20 microns.

Gabriel India
-Gabriel India expands its footprint with the inauguration of S3 Plant in Hosur, to meet the growing business requirements of one of its key customers, TVS Motor (TVSM) Company. A ground-Breaking ceremony was performed on a vacant land within the CY Myutec ANAND (CYMA), Chennai plant premises in August 2018.
