InCar plus project demonstrator vehicle

-Company research project to explore possible solutions for improved energy efficiency, electromobility, and weight reduction in automotive manufacturing. -Components that were developed for the project had weight savings of up to 50% and cost savings of up to 20%.

Seating

-Through the use of newer steel grades, seating components can be made up to 15% lighter at no additional cost. Seat cushion pans using LITECOR composite material can be made up to 37% lighter.

B-pillar

-A hot-formed and roll-clad steel-composite material reduces the weight of the B-pillar by 1.28 kg per vehicle compared to a tailored tempering B-pillar.

Door

-Use of the LITECOR composite made from steel and plastic reduces the weight of the door.

Chassis

-The demonstrator vehicle features suspension springs that are 20% lighter and an integrated variable damping system with a stepless pilot-controlled pressure relief valve.

Powertrain

-Hybrid shiftable cam elements made from a steel and plastic composite and a reduction in camshaft friction both reduce fuel consumption.
