Strategic cooperation

-BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (BAIC BluePark) announced on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) its plan to establish a platform company named BAIC Hailanxin Energy Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (BAIC Hailanxin) with BAIC Group Industrial Investment Co., Ltd. (BAIC Capital) and Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. With a registered capital of CNY 390 million that includes CNY 50 million (12.82%) from BAIC BlueParkBAIC Hailanxin will function as the main body of management and investment to establish a joint venture named Beijing CATL New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Beijing CATL) with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL), Beijing Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (BET), and Xiaomi EV. Beijing CATL will have a registered capital of CNY 1 billion, where CNY 390 million (39%), CNY 510 million (51%), CNY 50 million (5%), and CNY 50 million (5%) are from BAIC Hailanxin, CATL, BET, and Xiaomi EV, respectively. Upon establishment, the company will invest in building a battery cell intelligent manufacturing plant in Beijing. According to the announcement, this outward investment is conducive to securing the stable supply of BAIC BluePark power batteries and promoting the priority application of new power batteries and new technologies to BAIC BluePark finished vehicles. -The company announced that it has signed a joint venture cooperation agreement with Benteler in the field of automotive chassis modules. This cooperation will focus on the future development of smart electric vehicles, expand the high-end chassis suspension module business, and further enrich the chassis product line. -The company announced that it has signed a framework agreement with BAIC Motors to deepen cooperation in the supply and demand chain. The two sides exchanged views on the whole parts matching, product research and development, and the "three transformations" product layout, and focused on the progress of the cooperation project. According to the agreement, the two sides will further expand the scope of cooperation to fully cover key areas and key products such as electrification, intelligent networking, lightweight and traditional automotive parts, carry out all-round cooperation with complementary resources and system empowerment, and jointly innovate the supply chain security model. Moved into the Xinliji Park in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area

-BHAP announced that it moved into the Xinliji Park in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (a.k.a. Beijing E-Town) with three subsidiaries: Benteler Hainachuan Automotive Systems (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (Benteler Hainachuan), Beijing Hainachuan Benteler Automotive System Technology Co., Ltd. (Hainachuan Benteler), and Hainachuan Hofer (Beijing) New Energy Vehicle Drive Systems Co., Ltd. (Hainachuan Hofer). Benteler Hainachuan and Hainachuan Benteler, joint ventures between BHAP and Benteler Group established in the Xinliji Park, mainly supply chassis modules to Beijing Benz. In 2023, the first phase of a project on the assembly of chassis modules for the MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture)  was built, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 units. The second phase of the project is expected to be launched in 2024 and achieve an annual production capacity of 250,000 chassis modules. Hainachuan Hofer is a joint venture between BHAP and Hofer. Its production lines, which cover the deep manufacturing of dedicated hybrid transmissions, electric drive units, motors, and electronic controllers, are expected to complete renovation and upgrading in 2023 and be commissioned in Q2 2024. New Company

-The European Commission approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the creation of two joint ventures by Benteler Automotive Investment Limited (‘Benteler') and Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd (‘BHAP'), both of China. The newly created joint ventures will be active in the assembly and sale of chassis modules to automotive customers in China. The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would raise no competition concerns, given that the joint ventures have no foreseen activities in the European Economic Area. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (Based on European Commission news letter of August 24, 2023)

Orders

-BHAP announced that the prototype of the AI-EDU-M model, an electric drive system in-house developed by the BHAP technology center, has been completed and passed the customer’s evaluation. The AI-EDU-M adopts design concepts such as integration, common modularization, and efficient platforming.  It is an efficient, intelligent, and quiet high-performance electric drive system. New product

-BHAP announced that it succeeded in producing several prototypes, including the company's first electric drive assembly named AI-EDU, 400V and 800V flat wire motors, and a silicon carbide (SiC) inverter unit. The AI-EDU electric drive unit features compactness, quietness, and high power density, delivering a maximum system efficiency of 95.5%. Adopting a technology combination of oil cooling and flat wire, 400V and 800V flat wire motors achieve high speed, high efficiency, and high power. The annual production capacity of these motors is estimated to reach 200,000 units. The 800V SiC power module is applicable to mid- to high-end electric drive platforms. Adopting an integrated PCB design and a deeply integrated housing design, it achieves a power density of 26kW/kg, a maximum voltage utilization rate of 1.05, and a maximum efficiency of 99.5%. It also meets the ASIL D functional safety management standard. (From a press release dated November 5, 2023)

Certification

-BHAP announced that its intelligent vehicle lamp controller project officially passed Automotive SPICE Capability Level 2 (ASPICE CL2) certification. Within 10 months, the project team adjusted the plan and completed the project in accordance with ASPICE process requirements while ensuring the on-time delivery of the project. The team also optimized the tool chain configuration; completed the template design and process configuration of EWM, DNG, and ETM tools; and developed a series of improvement and optimization measures and documents.
