U.S. car sales up 1.5% in December, up 0.3% for 2018U.S. light vehicle sales of 1,627,481 units in December were up 1.5% as compared to the same month in 2017.
Truck and SUV sales rose 7.2% from last December to 1,165,092 units, while passenger car sales declined 10.5% to 462,389 units.
Total sales for 2018 were up 0.3% from 2017 levels to 17,274,250 units.
Truck and SUV sales for the full year were up 8.0% to 11,786,069 units, while passenger car sales were down 13.1% to 5,488,181 units for 2018.
General Motors sales in December were down 3.7% and Ford sales were down 8.8%, while FCA sales were up 14.3% compared to December 2017.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota sales were down 0.9%, Nissan sales were up 7.6%, Honda sales were up 3.9%, and Subaru sales were up 1.9% compared to last December.
Kia sales increased 10.2%, while Hyundai sales increased 3.3% from last December.
Among German companies, BMW brand sales increased 0.3% and Volkswagen brand sales increased 5.8% from the same month last year.
Volvo sales decreased 8.8%, while Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 23.6% from last December.

U.S. auto sales slip 0.8% in NovemberU.S. new vehicle sales of 1,387,077 units for the month of November represented a decrease of 0.8% compared with November 2017, with the same amount of selling days in the month, but an increase of 2.2% compared with October 2018.
Passenger car sales fell 13.9% to 413,497 units, while SUV and truck sales increased 6.1% to 973,580 units.
November had an overall SAAR of 17.50 million units, which is the same as last year.
Among OEM-reported sales for the month, Ford sales fell 7.1%, while FCA sales increased 17.0%.
General Motors sold an estimated 248,677 vehicles in November, a 1.4% increase from the year before.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda and Mitsubishi sales fell 0.6%, 18.7%, 9.5% and 10.7%, respectively, while Subaru sales increased 9.8%.
Hyundai/Genesis sales increased 0.5% from last November, while Kia sales increased 1.8%.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz USA sales decreased 3.7% and BMW sales increased 1.0%, while VW sales decreased 8.3% compared to November 2017.
Volvo sales rose 4.2% and Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 19.1% from last November.

U.S. auto sales in October up 0.1%U.S. new vehicle sales of 1,356,760 units for the month of October were essentially flat as compared with the same month in 2017, up 0.1%, even with one additional selling day this year. Passenger car sales fell 10.5% to 427,055 units, while SUV and truck sales increased 5.9% to 929,705 units. October had an overall SAAR of 17.5 million units.
Among OEM-reported sales for the month, Ford sales fell 4.0%, while FCA sales increased 15.7%, assisted by a 38% rise in Dodge brand sales.
General Motors, who has stopped reporting monthly sales figures, sold an estimated 238,953 vehicles in October,
Among Japanese companies, Toyota, Subaru, and Mitsubishi sales increased 1.4%, 2.5% and 8.4%, respectively, while Nissan, Honda, and Mazda sales fell 10.6%, 4.1% and 10.3%, respectively, compared to October 2017.
Hyundai/Genesis sales were flat from last October, while Kia sales increased 1.6%.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz USA sales increased 0.9% and VW sales increased 4.6%, while BMW Group sales fell 1.7% compared to October 2017.
Volvo sales rose 4.6% and Jaguar Land Rover sales jumped 25.4% from last October, powered by the 2,014 sales of the new Range Rover Sport model.

U.S. auto sales drop 6.0% in September
On October 2, most OEMs reported lower U.S. new vehicle sales for the month of September, which included one less sales day as compared to the same month in 2017.
Light vehicle sales totaled 1,432,069 units in September, a 6.0% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Passenger car sales fell 20.7% to 440,075 units, while SUV and truck sales increased 2.4% to 991,994 units.
September had an overall SAAR of 17.44 million units compared to 18.16 million units in September 2017.
Among OEM-reported sales for the month, Ford sales fell 11.2%, while FCA sales increased 14.7%, led by a 41.0% rise in Dodge sales.
General Motors sold approximately 234,043 vehicles in September, 16.2% less than the same month in 2017.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda and Mitsubishi sales were down 10.4%, 12.2%, 7.0%, 17.4%, and 8.6%, respectively, while Subaru sales were up 3.5% compared to September 2017.
Hyundai/Genesis sales increased 0.6% from last September, while Kia sales decreased 1.8%.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz and VW sales decreased 9.8% and 4.8%, respectively, while BMW sales increased 1.3% from September 2017.
Volvo sales rose 10.3%, while Jaguar Land Rover sales decreased 7.2% from last September.

U.S. auto sales flat in August compared to 2017
On September 4, OEMs reported U.S. light vehicle sales of 1,482,268 units in August, a 0.1% decrease from the same month in 2017 and difference of only 1,063 units.
August 2018 had the same number of sales days as August 2017.
The overall SAAR for August was 16.72 million units, compared with 16.58 million units in the same month in 2017.
General Motors’ estimated sales of 238,574 units represented a 13.3% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Ford’s August sales increased 4.1%, while FCA sales increased 10.0%.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota sales were down 2.0%, while Nissan, Honda, Subaru, and Mitsubishi sales were up 3.7%, 1.3%, 1.4%, and 3.1%, respectively, compared to last year.
Hyundai/Genesis sales increased 6.0% from last August, while Kia sales increased 1.0%.
Among German companies, BMW and Mercedes-Benz sales decreased 1.5% and 19.8% respectively, while VW sales increased 0.7% from August 2017.
Volvo sales rose 12.2%, while Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 2.4% from last year.

U.S. auto sales decrease 3.2% in July
On August 1, OEMs reported U.S. light vehicle sales of 1,370,405 units in July, a 3.2% decrease from the same month in 2017.
While sales were lower than expected, July 2018 had one less sales day than July 2017.
The overall SAAR for July was 16.77 million units, with 5.32 million units for passenger cars and 11.45 million units for trucks.
General Motors’ estimated sales of 221,437 units represented a 2.0% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Ford’s July sales decreased 3.1%, while FCA sales increased 5.8%, led by a 15.0% jump in Jeep sales.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Mazda sales were down 6.0%, 15.2%, 8.2% and 10.9%, respectively, while Mitsubishi’s were up 24% and Subaru had a record high July with sales up 6.7% compared to last year.
Hyundai/Genesis sales decreased 4.3% from last July, while Kia sales decreased 5.8%.
Among German companies, BMW and Mercedes-Benz sales decreased 0.3% and 22.7% respectively, while VW sales increased 12.7% from July 2017.
Volvo sales rose 24.0%, while Jaguar Land Rover sales decreased 11.8% from last year.

U.S. auto sales increase 7.0% in June
U.S. light vehicle sales of 1,576,564 units in June increases 7.0% compared to the same month in 2017 according to MarkLines Data Center release including GM sales estimates.
Truck and SUV sales rose 14.7% from last June to 1,072,581 units, while passenger car sales dropped 6.5% to 503,983 units.
On July 3, most OEMs reported higher U.S. new vehicle sales in the month of June, which included one extra sales day as compared to June 2017.
June was a very strong sales month, with an overall SAAR of 17.47 million units.
General Motors no longer supplies monthly sales figures, choosing instead to report quarterly sales figures. However, GM sales were estimated to have increased 15.2% y-o-y in June. Ford sales increased 1.0%, while FCA sales increased 8.0%, led by a 19.0% jump in Jeep sales.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota sales were up 3.6%. Honda was up 4.8%. Nissan was up 1.2% and Subaru was up 15.0% compared to last June.
Hyundai sales increased 17.5% from last June, while Kia sales increased 0.8%.
Among German companies, BMW and VW sales increased 0.5% and 5.7% respectively, while Mercedes-Benz sales fell 9.7% from June 2017.
Volvo sales rose 35.1%, while Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 7.2% from last June.

U.S. auto sales up in May for nearly all OEMs
On June 1, almost all OEMs reported higher U.S. new vehicle sales in the month of May, which included one extra sales day as compared to May 2017, allowing a higher volume but with a lower daily sales rate.
Based on compiled and projected information from Autodata, the overall SAAR for May was 16.91 million units, similar to the spring and summer months of 2017.
The SAAR was 5.44 million units for passenger cars and 11.48 million units for trucks.
Among OEM-reported sales for May, Ford sales increased 0.5%, while FCA sales increased 11.0%, led by a 29.0% jump in Jeep sales.
General Motors no longer supplies monthly sales figures, choosing instead to report quarterly.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota and Nissan sales were down 1.3% and 4.1% respectively, although Honda was up 3.1%, Subaru was up 7.1%, and Mazda was up 15.1% compared to last May.
Hyundai/Genesis sales increased 10.1% from last May, while Kia sales increased1.6%.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and VW sales increased 3.3%, 3.4%, and 4.0%, respectively, from the same month last year.
Volvo sales rose 50.6%, while Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 16.8% from last May.

U.S. auto sales down in April, though SAAR remains strongOn May 1, major OEMs reported lower U.S. new vehicle sales in April as consumer demand continues to soften.
Subdued sales figures for April 2018 were at least partially due to a month of 24 selling days versus 26 selling days in April 2017.
While General Motors announced on April 3 its decision to discontinue providing monthly sales figures and report only quarterly sales going forward, its sales have been estimated to have decreased between 2.5% and 3.0% from April 2017.
Based on compiled and projected information from Autodata, the overall SAAR for April was 17.17 million units, similar to earlier in 2018.
The SAAR was 5.43 million units for passenger cars and 11.73 million units for trucks.
Among OEM-reported sales for April, Ford sales decreased 4.5%, while FCA sales increased 4.5% compared to last year.

Hyundai/Genesis sales decreased 11.1% from last April, while Kia sales decreased 5.2%.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Volkswagen sales increased 1.0%, 3.8% and 4.5%, respectively, from the same month last year.
Volvo sales rose 17.0%, while Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 0.3% from last April.

U.S. light vehicle sales of 1,653,529 units in March increases 6.3% compared to the same month in 2017.
Truck and SUV sales rose 16.3% from last March to 1,097,904 units, while passenger car sales dropped 9.2% to 555,625 units.
The overall SAAR for March was 17.48 million units.
The SAAR was 5.62 million units for passenger cars and 11.87 million units for trucks.
March had an extra selling day in 2018.
General Motors, Ford, and FCA sales increased 15.7%, 3.5%, and 13.6%, respectively, compared to March sales last year.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota, Honda, and Subaru were up 3.5%, 3.8%, and 5.9% respectively, while Nissan was down 3.7% compared to last March.
Hyundai sales decreased 11.2% from last March, while Kia sales increased 2.5%.
Among German companies, Volkswagen Group sales increased 13.5%, while Daimler and BMW Group sales decreased 2.7% and 0.4%, respectively from the same month last year.
Volvo sales rose 53.7% and Jaguar Land Rover sales increased 10.2% from last March.

U.S. light vehicle sales of 1,302,128 units in February fell 2.4% compared to the same month in 2017.
Truck and SUV sales rose 3.8% from last February to 863,165 units, while passenger car sales dropped 12.6% to 438,963 units.
The overall SAAR for February was 17.08 million units.
The SAAR was 5.72 million units for passenger cars and 11.35 million units for trucks.
General Motors, Ford, and FCA sales decreased 7.0%, 6.8%, and 1.4%, respectively, compared to February sales last year.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota and Subaru were up 4.5% and 3.8%, respectively, while Nissan was down 4.3% and Honda was down 5.0% compared to last February.
Hyundai sales decreased 13.1% from last February, while Kia sales decreased 4.7%.
Among German companies, Daimler, BMW, and Volkswagen sales increased 1.9%, 7.4%, and 8.4%, respectively from the same month last year.

U.S. car sales up 1.0% in January
U.S. light vehicle sales of 1,154,885 units in January were up 1.0% compared to the same month in 2017.
Truck and SUV sales rose 8.0% from last January to 773,433 units, while passenger car sales declined 10.8% to 381,452 units.
The overall SAAR for January was 17.16 million units.
The SAAR was 5.77 million units for passenger cars and 11.40 million units for trucks.
General Motors sales increased 1.3% in January, with passenger car sales down 30.2% from last year.
Ford sales were down 6.3% and FCA sales were down 12.8% compared to January sales last year.
Among Japanese companies, Toyota was up 16.8%, Nissan was up 10.0%, Subaru was up 1.1%, and Honda sales were down 1.7% compared to last January.
Hyundai sales decreased 11.3% from last January, while Kia sales were flat.
Among German companies, BMW and Volkswagen sales increased 3.4% and 7.1% respectively, as Daimler sales fell 1.1% from the same month last year.
Volvo sales jumped 60.3% and Jaguar Land Rover sales fell 0.6% from last January.
