Indian new vehicle sales increased by 20.1% in November, 2017  
Indian new vehicle sales in November 2017 were up 20.1% y/y to 344,263 units versus 286,750 units in November 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 14.3% to 275,417 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 50.4% to 68,846 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 4.5% to 181,395 units versus 173,607 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 44.6% to 77,824 units. Vans sales were up 19.3 % to 16,198 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 62.6% to 28,459 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 42.9% to 40,387 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 15.0%. Hyundai was up 10.0% and Mahindra was up 22.0%. Tata Motors was up 57.7% in November 2017.

India - New Vehicle Sales

Indian new vehicle sales increased by 1.0% in October, 2017
Indian new vehicle sales in October 2017 were up 1.0% y/y to 349,630 units versus 346,246 units in October 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were down 0.3% to 279,837 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 6.4% to 69,793 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were down 5.3% to 184,666 units versus 195,036 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 12.4% to 79,323 units. Vans sales were up 5.0 % to 15,848 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 0.9% to 26,158 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 10.1% to 43,635 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 9.9%. Hyundai was down 0.9% and Mahindra was down 0.2%. Tata Motors was up 5.2% in October 2017.

Indian new vehicle sales increased by 13.9% in September, 2017
Indian new vehicle sales in September 2017 were up 13.9% y/y to 387,150 units versus 340,049 units in September 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 11.3% to 309,955 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 25.3% to 77,195 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 6.9% to 208,656 units versus 195,259 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were also up 26.2% to 84,374 units. Vans sales were up 3.7 % to 16,925 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 25.6% to 31,086 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 25.0% to 46,109 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 10.3% and Hyundai was up 17.4%. Tata Motors was up 25.6% and Mahindra sales were up 21.6% in September 2017.

Indian new vehicle sales increased by 15.4% in August, 2017
Indian new vehicle sales in August 2017 were up 15.4% y/y to 359,645 units versus 311,738 units in August 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 13.8% to 294,335 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 23.2% to 65,310 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 11.8% to 198,811 units versus 177,829 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were also up 19.6% to 78,664 units. Vans sales were up 11.3% to 16,860 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 28.4% to 26,376 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 19.9% to 38,934 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 26.7% and Hyundai was up 9.0%. Tata Motors was up 25.9% and Mahindra sales were up 10.5% in August 2017.

Indian new vehicle sales increased by 14.9% in July, 2017
Sales in July 2017 were up 14.9% y/y to 357,997 units versus 311,573 units in July 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 15.1% to 298,997 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 13.8% to 59,000 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 8.5% to 192,773 units versus 177,639 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were also up 35.5% to 86,874 units. Vans sales were up 7.6% to 19,350 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 6.7% to 22,730 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 18.7% to 36,270 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 22.4% and Hyundai was up 4.4%. Tata Motors was up 13% and Mahindra sales were up 13% in July 2017.

Indian vehicle sales down 8.7% in June 2017
Sales in June 2017 were down 8.7% y/y to 255,289 units versus 279,536 units in June 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were down 11.2% to 198,399 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 1.4% to 56,890 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were down 11.2% to 136,895 units versus 154,237 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were also down 11.2% to 49,547 units. Vans sales were down 10.7% to 11,957 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were down 6.5% to 21,175 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 6.8% to 35,715 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 1.2% and Hyundai was down 5.6%. Tata Motors was down 4.7% and Mahindra sales were up 2.3% in June 2017.
Mixed consumer sentiments in June 2017 towards the implications of GST have impacted due to passenger vehicles business sales and stock liquidation by dealers. Passenger vehicle sales are expected to grow in coming months due to discount announced by OEMs after GST roll out, new model launches and revision in fuel prices.
Sales of commercial vehicles were started to improve due to BS4 production ramp-up. It is expected to grow in coming months due to improved consumer sentiments, GST implementation and waning effect of demonetization.

Indian vehicle sales up 5.7% in May 2017
Sales in May 2017 were up 5.7% y/y to 305,099 units versus 288,729 units in May 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 8.6% to 251,642 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were down 6.4% to 53,457 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 4.8% to 166,630 units versus 158,996 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 18.8% to 69,845 units. Vans sales were up 9.5% to 15,167 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were down 33.0% to 16,716 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 14.3% to 36,741 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 15.5% and Hyundai was up 1.6%. Tata Motors was down 3.3% and Mahindra sales was up 11.6% in May 2017.
Passenger vehicle sales are expected to grow in coming months due to softening of interest rates, revision in fuel prices and GST implementation.
Sales of commercial vehicles were decreased due to pre-buying in March on account of BS-IV implementation. It is expected to grow in coming months due to improved consumer sentiments, GST implementation and waning effect of demonetization.

Indian vehicle sales up 7.8% in April 2017
Sales in April 2017 were up 7.8% y/y to 319,092 units versus 295,895 units in April 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 14.7% to 277,602 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were down 22.9% to 41,490 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 17.4% to 190,788 units versus 162,566 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 13.7% to 70,691 units. Vans sales were down 6.9% to 16,123 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were down 54.9% to 10,602 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 1.9% to 30,888 units.

Indian vehicle sales up by 9.8% in March 2017
Sales in March 2017 were up by 9.8% y/y to 369,776 units versus 336,785 units in March 2016. PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 10.0% y/y to 282,519 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 9.3% y/y to 87,257 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 8.2% y/y to 190,065 units versus 175,709 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 20.9% y/y to 77,689 units. Vans sales were down 12.9% y/y to 14,765 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 6.0% y/y to 39,353 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 12.1% y/y to 47,904 units.

Indian vehicle sales up by 8.7% in February 2017
Sales in February 2017 were up by 8.7% y/y to 322,298 units versus 296,603 units in February 2016. PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 9.0% y/y to 255,359 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 7.3% y/y to 66,939 units.
By vehicle types, passenger vehicle sales were up 4.9% y/y to 172,623 units versus 164,559 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 21.8% y/y to 65,877 units. Vans sales were up 8.1% y/y to 16,859 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 5.0% y/y to 30,521 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 9.4% y/y to 36,418 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 11.7% and Hyundai was up 4.0%. Tata Motors was up 2.8% and Mahindra sales were down 1.6% in February 2017.

Indian vehicle sales up 11.2% in January 2017

Sales in January 2017 were up by 11.2% y/y to 326,559 units versus 293,600 units in January 2016. PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 14.4% y/y to 265,320 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were down 0.7% y/y to 61,239 units.

By vehicle types, passenger vehicle sales were up 10.8% y/y to 186,523 units versus 168,303 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 24.5% y/y to 62,264 units. Vans sales were up 21.6% y/y to 16,533 units.

Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 0.6% y/y to 28,704 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were down 1.9% y/y to 32,535 units.

Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 25.9% and Hyundai was up 10.5%. Tata Motors registered flat growth and Mahindra sales were down 9% in January 2017.

Passenger vehicles sales are expected to grow in coming months due to Budget announcement, and reduced inflation and interest rates. Sales of commercial vehicles are expected to increase due to pre-buying of BS III norms trucks.
