German passenger car sales increase 19.5% in December, increase 5.0% for 2019
On January 6, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 283,380 new passenger car registrations in December, a 19.5% increase from the same month last year.
Full-year registrations of 3,607,258 vehicles in 2019 represented an increase of 5.0% from 2018.
Volkswagen brand sales of 49,518 units (17.5% market share) increased 19.2% in December compared to the same month last year.
BMW sales of 27,544 units (9.7% share) increased 10.8% from last year.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 24,796 units (8.8% share) increased 8.4% in December.
Ford sales of 22,664 units (8.0% share) increased 28.0% from last year.
Audi brand sales of 17,590 units (6.2% share) increased 5.7% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 14,256 units (5.0% share) increased 15.2% in December.
Sales of 25,608 trucks in December represented an increase of 0.9% from the previous year’s results, while the sales of 727 buses were a 15.7% decrease from last December.
In 2019, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 59.2% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.0% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 6.6% and EV had a 1.8% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 213,400 units had decreased 14% and domestic production of 276,400 units had decreased 7% from last December.
Full-year passenger car exports of 3,480,500 units had decreased 13% from 2018, while full-year domestic production of 4,661,800 units represented a 9% decrease over 2018.

German passenger car sales rise 9.7% in November
On December 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 299,127 new passenger car registrations in November, a 9.7% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 3.9% with 3,323,878 cars registered in the first eleven months of 2019.
Volkswagen brand sales of 62,462 units (20.9% market share) increased 27.2% in November compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 32,690 units (10.9% share) increased 7.5% from last year.
BMW sales of 24,874 units (8.3% share) increased 1.6% in November.
Ford sales of 23,366 units (7.8% share) increased 1.9% from last year.
Audi sales of 18,576 units (6.2% share) increased 41.0% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 16,602 units (5.6% share) decreased 3.2% in November.
Sales of 29,926 trucks in November represented a decrease of 4.0% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 646 buses represented a decrease of 9.0%.
In November, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 57.9% market share, diesel vehicles had a 31.6% market share and hybrid vehicles had a 8.7% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 309,800 units had decreased 10% and domestic production of 423,400 units had decreased 8% from last November.

German passenger car sales rise 12.7% in October
On November 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 284,593 new passenger car registrations in October, a 12.7% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 3.4% with 3,024,751 cars registered in the first ten months of 2019.
Volkswagen brand sales of 56,877 units (20.0% market share) increased 39.4% in October compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 33,606 units (11.8% share) increased 5.9% from last year.
BMW sales of 24,319 units (8.5% share) increased 3.4% in October.
Ford sales of 22,365 units (7.9% share) increased 0.1% from last year.
Audi sales of 16,990 units (6.0% share) increased 118.2% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 15,928 units (5.6% share) increased 10.4% in October.
Sales of 28,143 trucks in October represented a decrease of 11.4% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 451 buses represented a decrease of 12.3%.
In October, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 57.7% market share, diesel vehicles had a 30.9% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 303,700 units had decreased 10% and domestic production of 405,400 units had decreased 5% from last October.

German passenger car sales rise 22.2% in September
On October 2, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 244,622 new passenger car registrations in September, a 22.2% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 2.5% with 2,740,158 cars registered in the first nine months of 2019.
Volkswagen brand sales of 39,750 units (16.2% market share) increased 96.0% in September compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 26,853 units (11.0% share) increased 20.0% from last year.
BMW sales of 19,881 units (8.1% share) decreased 18.9% in September.
Ford sales of 18,853 units (7.7% share) increased 25.6% from last year.
Opel sales of 18,488 units (7.6% share) decreased 9.1% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 14,004 units (5.7% share) increased 27.5% in September.
Sales of 22,826 trucks in September represented a decrease of 11.9% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 323 buses represented a decrease of 19.0%.
In September, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 59.9% market share, diesel vehicles had a 29.6% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 320,800 units had increased 2% and domestic production of 415,500 units had increased 4% from last September.

German passenger car sales fall 0.8% in August
On September 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 313,748 new passenger car registrations in August, a 0.8% decrease from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 0.9% with 2,495,536 cars registered in the first eight months of 2019.
Volkswagen brand sales of 52,754 units (16.8% market share) decreased 17.1% in August compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 28,990 units (9.2% share) increased 22.0% from last year.
Audi sales of 25,227 units (8.0% share) decreased 10.5% in August.
Ford sales of 22,713 units (7.2% share) increased 27.5% from last year.
Skoda sales of 19,598 units (6.2% share) increased 13.8% from the same month last year.
BMW sales of 18,708 units (6.0% share) decreased 3.0% in August.
Sales of 32,586 trucks in August represented an increase of 16.1% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 568 buses represented a increase of 1.4%.
In August, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 61.4% market share, diesel vehicles had a 30.2% market share and hybrid vehicles had a 6.3% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 234,300 units had decreased 6% and domestic production of 313,200 units had increased 1% from last August.

German passenger car sales rise 4.7% in July
On August 2, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 332,788 new passenger car registrations in July, a 4.7% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 1.2% with 2,181,788 cars registered in the first seven months of 2019.
Volkswagen brand sales of 61,783 units (18.6% market share) decreased 6.9% in July compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 31,072 units (9.3% share) increased 22.4% from last year.
Audi sales of 28,862 units (8.7% share) decreased 14.0% in July.
Ford sales of 26,404 units (7.9% share) increased 26.8% from last year.
BMW sales of 24,091 units (7.2% share) increased 32.0% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 21,443 units (6.4% share) increased 23.2% in July.
Sales of 28,457 trucks in July represented an increase of 14.8 from the previous year’s results, while sales of 469 buses represented a increase of 13.0%.
In the first seven months of 2019, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 58.2% market share, diesel vehicles had a 33.0% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 288,000 units had decreased 6% and domestic production of 359,400 units had decreased 5% from last July.

German passenger car sales fall 4.7% in June
On July 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 325,231 new passenger car registrations in June, a 4.7% decrease from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 0.5% with 1,849,000 passenger cars registered in the first half of 2019.
Volkswagen brand sales of 62,347 units (19.2% market share) decreased 6.1% in June compared to the same month in 2018.
BMW sales of 25,602 units (7.9% share) increased 1.1% from last year.
Ford sales of 25,060 units (7.7% share) increased 2.2% in June.
Audi sales of 24,100 units (7.4% share) decreased 13.2% from last year.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 24,069 units (7.4% share) decreased 15.2% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 20,461 units (6.3% share) decreased 7.3% in June.
Sales of 31,705 trucks in June represented an increase of 9.3% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 636 buses represented a increase of 20.0%.
In the first half of 2019, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 59.4% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.9% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 273,000 units had decreased 25% and domestic production of 374,700 units had decreased 24% from last June.

German passenger car sales rise 9.1% in May
On June 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 332,962 new passenger car registrations in May, a 9.1% increase from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 60,906 units (18.3% market share) decreased 4.6% in May compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 29,793 units (8.9% share) increased 9.5% from last year.
BMW sales of 26,995 units (8.1% share) increased 41.9% in May.
Ford sales of 26,011 units (7.8% share) increased 18.0% from last year.
Audi sales of 25,816 units (7.8% share) decreased 4.3% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 21,622 units (6.5% share) increased 15.2% in May.
Sales of 32,847 trucks in May represented an increase of 24.5% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 640 buses represented an increase of 45.5%.
In May, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 59.0% market share, diesel vehicles had a 33.3% market share and hybrid vehicles had a 5.8% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 328,000 units had decreased 3% and domestic production of 445,700 units had increased 2% from last May.

German passenger car sales fall 1.1% in April
On May 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 310,715 new passenger car registrations in April, a 1.1% decrease from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 57,526 units (18.5% market share) decreased 11.2% in April compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 29,590 units (9.5% share) increased 1.6% from last year.
BMW sales of 24,748 units (8.0% share) increased 17.4% in April.
Ford sales of 24,342 units (7.8% share) decreased 0.9% from last year.
Audi sales of 23,007 units (7.4% share) decreased 12.8% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 18,935 units (6.1% share) decreased 5.2% in April.
Sales of 29,341 trucks in April represented an increase of 12.0% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 547 buses represented a decrease of 24.1%.
In April, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 59.1% market share, diesel vehicles had a 33.5% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 305,800 units had decreased 23% and domestic production of 414,300 units had decreased 15% from last April.

German passenger car sales fall 0.5% in March
On April 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 345,523 new passenger car registrations in March, a 0.5% decrease from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 62,627 units (18.1% market share) decreased 2.9% in March compared to the same month in 2018.
Audi sales of 29,751 units (8.6% share) increased 15.9% from last year.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 28,054 units (8.1% share) decreased 5.2% in March.
Ford sales of 25,613 units (7.4% share) decreased 4.7% from last year.
BMW sales of 25,458 units (7.4% share) decreased 3.1% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 22,505 units (6.5% share) increased 6.4% in March.
Sales of 31,509 trucks in March represented an increase of 10.2% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 434 buses represented a decrease of 30.0%.
In March, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 60.2% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.4% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 343,300 units had decreased 9% and domestic production of 451,400 units had decreased 14% from last March.

German passenger car sales rise 2.7% in February
On March 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 268,867 new passenger car registrations in February, a 2.7% increase from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 49,965 units (18.6% market share) increased 4.5% in February compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 24,380 units (9.1% share) increased 11.3% from last year.
Audi sales of 24,050 units (8.9% share) increased 2.3% in February.
Ford sales of 21,264 units (7.9% share) increased 10.4% from last year.
BMW sales of 17,825 units (6.6% share) increased 0.9% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 17,677 units (6.6% share) decreased 8.0% in February.
Sales of 25,344 trucks in February represented an increase of 13.8% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 369 buses represented a increase of 3.7%.
In February, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 59.7% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.6% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 5.6% and EV had a 1.7% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 348,500 units were basically flat and domestic production of 440,900 units had decreased 1% from last February.

German car sales fall 1.4% in January 2019
On February 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 265,702 new passenger car registrations in January, a 1.4% decrease from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 50,823 units (19.1% market share) decreased 6.5% in January compared to the same month in 2018.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 25,292 units (9.5% share) decreased 4.3% from last year.
Audi sales of 21,814 units (8.2% share) increased 3.7% in January.
Ford sales of 21,064 units (7.9% share) increased 14.6% from last year.
BMW sales of 19,198 units (7.2% share) decreased 7.5% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 16,225 units (6.1% share) decreased 6.6% in January.
Sales of 25,146 trucks in January represented an increase of 13.3% from the previous year’s results, while the sale of 627 buses was a 12.0% increase from last year.
In January, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 57.6% market share, diesel vehicles had a 34.5% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 5.7% and EV had a 1.7% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 285,800 units had decreased 20% and domestic production of 367,300 units had decreased 19% from last January.
