German passenger car sales decrease 6.7% in December, decrease 0.2% for 2018
On January 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 237,058 new passenger car registrations in December, a 6.7% decrease from the same month last year.
Full-year registrations of 3,435,778 vehicles in 2018 represented an decrease of 0.2% from 2017.
Volkswagen brand sales of 41,527 units (17.5% market share) decreased 10.9% in December compared to the same month last year.
BMW sales of 24,859 units (10.5% share) increased 0.2% from last year.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 22,876 units (9.6% share) increased 21.7% in December.
Ford sales of 17,711 units (7.5% share) decreased 12.0% from last year.
Audi brand sales of 16,636 units (7.0% share) decreased 5.7% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 15,594 units (6.6% share) decreased 9.1% in December.
Sales of 25,388 trucks in December represented an decrease of 3.5% from the previous year’s results, while the sales of 862 buses were a 5.4% increase from last December.
In 2018, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 62.4% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.3% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 3.8% and EV had a 1.0% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 246,800 units had decreased 20% and domestic production of 296,000 units had decreased 18% from last December.
Full-year passenger car exports of 3,990,500 units had decreased 9% from 2017, while full-year domestic production of 5,118,800 units represented a 9% decrease over 2017.

German car sales fall 9.9% in November
On December 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 272,674 new passenger car registrations in November, a 9.9% decrease from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 0.4% with 3,198,720 cars registered in the first eleven months of 2018.
Volkswagen brand sales of 49,253 units (18.1% market share) decreased 15.4% in November compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 30,416 units (11.2% share) increased 6.0% from last year.
BMW sales of 24,476 units (9.0% share) increased 11.5% in November.
Ford sales of 22,940 units (8.4% share) increased 4.4% from last year.
Opel sales of 18,952 units (7.0% share) decreased 4.4% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 17,154 units (6.3% share) decreased 3.0% in November.
Sales of 31,159 trucks in November represented an increase of 6.1% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 710 buses represented a decrease of 4.2%.
In November, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 59.9% market share, diesel vehicles had a 34.0% market share and hybrid vehicles had a 4.3% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 344,100 units had decreased 22% and domestic production of 450,500 units had decreased 22% from last November.

German car sales fall 7.4% in October
On November 2, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 252,628 new passenger car registrations in October, a 7.4% decrease from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 1.4% with 2,926,046 cars registered in the first ten months of 2018.
Volkswagen brand sales of 40,811 units (16.2% market share) decreased 18.9% in October compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes sales of 31,737 units (12.6% share) increased 19.2% from last year.
BMW sales of 23,521 units (9.3% share) increased 25.6% in October.
Ford sales of 22,346 units (8.8% share) increased 5.0% from last year.
Opel sales of 19,545 units (7.7% share) increased 1.0% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 14,422 units (5.7% share) decreased 8.8% in October.
Sales of 31,768 trucks in October represented an increase of 16.5% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 514 buses represented a increase of 47.3%.
In October, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 62.3% market share, diesel vehicles had a 31.8% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 328,100 units had increased 1% and domestic production of 442,500 units had increased 3% from last October.

German car sales fall 30.5% in September
On October 2, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 200,134 new passenger car registrations in September, a 30.5% decrease from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 2.4% with 2,673,418 cars registered in the first nine months of 2018.
BMW sales of 24,524 units (12.3% market share) decreased 1.2% in September compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes sales of 22,379 units (11.2% share) decreased 20.5% from last year.
Opel sales of 20,337 units (10.2% share) decreased 6.6% in September.
Volkswagen brand sales of 20,278 units (10.1% share) decreased 61.9% from last year.
Ford sales of 15,006 units (7.5% share) decreased 17.2% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 10,981 units (5.5% share) decreased 43.6% in September.
Sales of 25,913 trucks in September represented an increase of 1.6% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 399 buses represented a decrease of 7.4%.
In September, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 64.3% market share, diesel vehicles had a 29.3% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 320,400 units had decreased 21% and domestic production of 401,800 units had decreased 24% from last September.

German car sales rise 24.7% in August
On September 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 316,405 new passenger car registrations in August, a 24.7% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 6.4% with 2,473,284 cars registered in the first eight months of 2018.
Volkswagen brand sales of 63,623 units (20.1% market share) increased 46.2% in August compared to the same month in 2017.
Audi sales of 28,198 units (8.9% share) increased 45.3% from last year.
Mercedes sales of 23,764 units (7.5% share) decreased 10.9% in August.
BMW sales of 19,289 units (6.1% share) increased 3.1% from last year.
Renault sales of 17,865 units (5.6% share) increased 101.9% from the same month last year.
Ford sales of 17,810 units (5.6% share) increased 7.4% in August.
Sales of 28,303 trucks in August represented an increase of 11.7% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 560 buses represented a increase of 23.6%.
In August, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 62.1% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.6% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 234,000 units had decreased 34% and domestic production of 310,400 units had decreased 31% from last August.

German car sales rise 12.3% in July
On August 2, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 317,848 new passenger car registrations in July, a 12.3% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 4.2% with 2,156,879 cars registered in the first seven months of 2018.
Volkswagen brand sales of 66,367 units (20.9% market share) increased 34.2% in July compared to the same month in 2017.
Audi sales of 33,562 units (10.6% share) increased 26.9% from last year.
Mercedes sales of 25,377 units (8.0% share) decreased 15.5% in July.
Ford sales of 20,829 units (6.6% share) increased 3.5% from last year.
BMW sales of 18,250 units (5.7% share) decreased 14.8% from the same month last year.
Skoda sales of 18,021 units (5.7% share) increased 30.9% in July.
Sales of 24,798 trucks in July represented an increase of 1.0% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 415 buses represented a decrease of 11.7%.
In the first seven months of 2018, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 62.1% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.3% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 299,200 units had decreased 6% and domestic production of 358,800 units had decreased 5% from last July.

German car sales rise 4.2% in June
On July 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 341,308 new passenger car registrations in June, a 4.2% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date sales increased 2.9% with 1,839,031 cars registered in the first half of 2018.
Volkswagen brand sales of 66,389 units (19.5% market share) increased 9.6% in June compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes sales of 28,376 units (8.3% share) decreased 9.6% from last year.
Audi sales of 27,775 units (8.1% share) increased 10.4% in June.
BMW sales of 25,325 units (7.4% share) increased 11.5% from last year.
Ford sales of 24,525 units (7.2% share) increased 9.5% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 22,066 units (6.5% share) decreased 5.2% in June.
Sales of 28,997 trucks in June represented an increase of 4.7% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 530 buses represented a decrease of 3.1%.
In the first half of 2018, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 63.1% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.1% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 366,300 units had increased 5% and domestic production of 485,300 units had increased 2% from last June.

German car sales fall 5.8% in May
On June 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 305,057 new passenger car registrations in May, a 5.8% decrease from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 63,835 units (20.9% market share) increased 5.8% in May compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes sales of 27,214 units (8.9% share) decreased 13.3% from last year.
Audi sales of 26,971 units (8.8% share) decreased 0.4% in May.
Ford sales of 22,050 units (7.2% share) decreased 6.5% from last year.
BMW sales of 19,027 units (6.2% share) decreased 15.8% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 18,761 units (6.1% share) decreased 15.1% in May.
Sales of 26,377 trucks in May represented an increase of 0.5% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 440 buses represented a decrease of 28.0%.
In May, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 64.0% market share, diesel vehicles had a 31.3% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 347,500 units had decreased 5% and domestic production of 442,800 units had decreased 8% from last May.

German car sales rise 8.0% in April
On May 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 314,055 new passenger car registrations in April, a 8.0% increase from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 64,769 units (20.6% market share) increased 14.6% in April compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes sales of 29,112 units (9.3% share) increased 7.7% from last year.
Audi sales of 26,392 units (8.4% share) decreased 1.5% in April.
Ford sales of 24,571 units (7.8% share) increased 14.8% from last year.
BMW sales of 21,079 units (6.7% share) increased 4.8% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 19,970 units (6.4% share) increased 3.2% in April.
Sales of 26,205 trucks in April represented an increase of 13.7% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 721 buses represented a increase of 12.5%.
In April, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 61.6% market share, diesel vehicles had a 33.4% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 381,000 units had increased 11% and domestic production of 487,600 units had increased 8% from last April.

German car sales fall 3.4% in March
On April 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 347,433 new passenger car registrations in March, a 3.4% decrease from the same month last year because of two fewer selling days.
Volkswagen brand sales of 64,496 units (18.6% market share) increased 1.8% in March compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes sales of 29,853 units (8.5% share) decreased 5.4% from last year.
Ford sales of 26,890 units (7.7% share) decreased 1.2% in March.
BMW sales of 26,278 units (7.6% share) decreased 5.4% from last year.
Audi sales of 25,673 units (7.4% share) decreased 12.8% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 21,147 units (6.1% share) decreased 23.4% in March.
Sales of 28,603 trucks in March represented an decrease of 6.7% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 620 buses represented a decrease of 11.9%.
In March, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 64.0% market share, diesel vehicles had a 31.4% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 391,600 units had decreased 11% and domestic production of 523,600 units had decreased 8% from last March.

German car sales rise 7.4% in February
On March 2, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 261,749 new passenger car registrations in February, a 7.4% increase from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 47,822 units (18.3% market share) increased 12.4% in February compared to the same month in 2017.
Audi sales of 23,510 units (9.0% share) decreased 3.6% from last year.
Mercedes sales of 21,910 units (8.4% share) increased 0.7% in February.
Ford sales of 19,258 units (7.4% share) increased 7.4% from last year.
Opel sales of 19,218 units (7.3% share) increased 6.7% from the same month last year.
BMW sales of 17,664 units (6.7% share) decreased 0.7% in February.
Sales of 22,266 trucks in February represented an increase of 8.0% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 356 buses represented a decrease of 13.6%.
In February, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 62.9% market share, diesel vehicles had a 32.5% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 3.2% and EV had a 1.0% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 345,800 units had decreased 8% and domestic production of 451,900 units had decreased 7% from last February.

German car sales rise 11.6% in January 2018
On February 6, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 269,429 new passenger car registrations in January, a 11.6% increase from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 54,348 units (20.2% market share) increased 9.7% in January compared to the same month in 2017.
Mercedes sales of 26,419 units (9.8% share) increased 8.4% from last year.
Audi sales of 21,032 units (7.8% share) decreased 2.9% in January.
BMW sales of 20,759 units (7.7% share) increased 1.8% from last year.
Ford brand sales of 18,387 units (6.8% share) increased 16.1% from the same month last year.
Opel sales of 17,364 units (6.4% share) increased 0.4% in January.
Sales of 22,189 trucks in January represented an increase of 10.9% from the previous year’s results, while the sale of 560 buses was a 7.7% increase from last year.
In January, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 61.8% market share, diesel vehicles had a 33.3% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 3.4% and BEV had a 1.0% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 353,700 units had increased 1% and domestic production of 458,700 units were basically flat from last January.
