China’s February vehicle production, sales volumes increase 39.6% y/y, 34.4% y/y, respectively
On March 11, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) announced China’s vehicle production and sales results for February 2025.
According to the CAAM, in February, corporate production and operating activities accelerated after the Spring Festival. Automakers scrambled to launch new models and price-off promotions, injecting much vitality into the market. As a result, China’s February vehicle production and sales volumes grew rapidly year-over-year (y/y). In January and February, the overall vehicle production and sales volumes grew steadily, as trade-in policies were newly strengthened and implemented, and corporate technology and product upgrading boosted demand. The passenger vehicle (PV) market remained good, while the commercial vehicle (CV) market picked up somewhat. The market performance of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) was excellent, with production and sales volumes maintaining rapid growth. All these laid a foundation for a flying start to Q1.
In February, vehicle production and sales volumes totaled 2.103 million units and 2.129 million units, up 39.6% y/y and 34.4% y/y, respectively. Year-to-date (YTD) production and sales volumes were 4.553 million units and 4.552 million units, up 16.2% y/y and 13.1% y/y, respectively.
