Three Japanese OEMs release January 2026 new car sales figures in China, with Toyota seeing y/y growth after 5-month gap
Three Japanese OEMs recently announced their January 2026 new car sales results in China.
Toyota sold 145,500 units in January, up 6.6% year-over-year (y/y), another y/y growth after a 5-month gap. GAC Toyota accounted for 63,648 units, achieving positive y/y growth. The sales volumes of the Camry and Sienna models grew by 17% y/y and 35% y/y, respectively. The bZ7, GAC Toyota’s first battery electric sedan with Huawei’s HarmonySpace cockpit, is scheduled for launch in March.
On February 9, Honda announced that its January sales volume was 57,489 units, down 16.5% y/y and declining for 24 consecutive months. Three GAC Honda plants suspended production at the end of December 2025 due to semiconductor shortages and resumed normal operations on January 19.
On February 9, Nissan announced that its January sales volume was 50,024 units, up 10.1% y/y, another y/y growth after a 2-month gap. 6,724 units of the HarmonySpace-featured Teana sedan, the world’s first fuel vehicle model with Huawei’s HarmonySpace cockpit, were delivered, up 22% y/y.
