Development Environment for SDV-Compliant Software

Automotive World 2025: Presentations and exhibits of NTT Data, Denso, and Micware

Summary

The latest trend in SDV is the need for an ecosystem that transcends industries, and a comprehensive agreement has been signed between NTT Data Group Corporation (NTT Data) and Denso Corporation (Denso). Going forward, it is expected that collaboration between entrants from outside the automotive industry (mainly the IT industry) and those involved in the automotive industry will increase. Furthermore, as the value of software increases (as its proportion of the cost of a car increases), in addition to software standardization activities, securing and developing software human resources has become an important theme/challenge.

This report focuses on the presentations and exhibits by NTT Data, Denso, and Micware related to Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs) at Automotive World 2025, which was held at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center from January 22 to 24, 2025.

Summary of SDV-related presentations and exhibits

NTT Data (presentation) NTT Data explained that SDVs can be seen as an ecosystem that continues to provide new experiential value from the user's perspective, and that they will have an impact on the industry in seven ways. For example, in the case of corporate organizational management, the tier structure (pyramid structure) with OEMs at the top will change to a flexible ecosystem (flat structure) that transcends industry boundaries.
NTT Data (exhibits) SDVs overall were exhibited as a "transformation of vehicle manufacturing," a "transformation of user experience," and the "social transformation through user utilization" that they will bring about.
Micware (exhibits) Micware Co., Ltd. (Micware), a company that specializes in in-vehicle software development, introduced an integrated development environment (CARE-RISU) that covers everything from platform/application development to automated testing on a hardware-abstracted cloud (virtual environment).
Denso (presentation) As part of its basic software strategy for SDVs, Denso is currently promoting measures based on the following three competitive advantages:
① Implementation capabilities: Ability to utilize knowledge of the entire vehicle to create products
② Human resources capabilities: Further strengthening of the global development organization
③ Deployment capabilities: Contributing to the industry through software human resources training programs and technology standardization
