On March 18, 2025, Mazda announced its “Lean Asset Strategy” to promote electrification through multiple solutions. The approach is to increase competitiveness as a small player, ensuring high asset efficiency with low investment and providing competitive technologies and products.

Mazda has a plan dividing the nine-year period from 2022 to 2030 into three stages and gradually advancing electrification and the shift to BEVs (battery electric vehicles). The proportion of xEVs (electrified vehicles) in global sales is expected to be between 25% and 40% by 2030.

In the first phase (2022-2024), the company launched its large product line and at the same time introduced products that utilize its accumulated electrification technologies. In the second phase (2025-2027), Mazda will introduce a new hybrid system, as well as EV-only vehicles in China, where electrification is leading the market. The company will also begin introducing Mazda's global BEVs. In the third phase (2028-2030), the company will move forward with the full-scale introduction of BEV-only models and increase investment in battery production.
