In addition, hundreds of auto parts manufacturers have operations in Mexico, forming an automotive industry cluster. The cluster effects not only improve production efficiency, but also contribute to cost reduction. Mexico has become an important part of the global automotive industry value chain.

In recent years, Chinese auto parts suppliers have been aggressively expanding overseas, including the construction of plants in Mexico. Mexico's policies, geographical advantages, and relatively inexpensive land and labor costs have made it an important manufacturing hub for Chinese auto parts suppliers in the North American region. These Chinese suppliers companies are distributed throughout the Mexican states, and the goal is to develop their North American automotive market presence through their Mexican plants, further expanding their international business footprint.

In 2023, Tesla announced that it will build a Gigafactory in Mexico. Aiming to adopt the production methods of the Shanghai Gigafactory, Tesla encouraged its auto parts suppliers that do business with the Shanghai factory to build plants in Mexico to reduce transportation costs and time and improve efficiency.
