2020/03/06

Summary

The 24th Mechanical Components & Materials Technology Expo M-Tech (dates: February 26 through 28, 2020; venue: Makuhari Messe, Chiba prefecture, Japan) sponsored by Reed Exhibitions Japan was held as a business gathering, bringing together in one place exhibits of mechanical components such as gears, bearings, screws, and springs as well as process technologies related to metals and plastics. At this year’s Expo, 293 exhibitors from overseas were planned for, more than twice the figure of the previous year’s expo; 1,352 exhibitors in all were expected. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic (coronavirus), almost no exhibitors from China participated and close to 1/3 of the Japanese exhibitors dropped out at the last minute. The visitors, fewer than a tenth of the previous year’s number, were able to feel the impact of the pandemic on business. Nevertheless, even under these circumstances, we interviewed the manufacturers who took part in the exhibition with the intention to make sales.
