The SAE 2016 World Congress was held from April 12 through April 14, 2016 in Detroit, Michigan, U.S. The theme of the SAE 2016 World Congress was "Powering Possibilities". While the phrase represents the idea of exploring the potential of new discoveries in the automotive industry, it also acknowledges the need for such innovation to drive the industry forward. Perhaps as an acknowledgement to the system which drives the automobile, OEMs at the SAE World Congress showcased a variety of powertrains and powertrain technologies. All five OEMs attending the exhibition had at least one green vehicle on display, while Toyota, Honda, Ford, and Hyundai-Kia all displayed various engines at their exhibits, highlighting improvements in performance and efficiency.
