JSAE Exposition 2015: Latest autonomous systems and ADAS technologies

Safety systems and sensors from Bosch, Denso, TRW, Magna, Continental, Hella, ZMP

Summary

 The Automotive Engineering Exposition 2015 was held from May 20-22, organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan. At the Exposition, various suppliers exhibited their latest autonomous-driving technology, or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs). Robert Bosch GmbH exhibited its automated parking system scheduled for release in 2016. It also introduced a concept of its "integrated-safety system" that will be network-based and consist of its passive safety system equipped with airbags and its active safety system featuring infra-red sensors and cameras.

 Denso Corporation exhibited a concept of its "vehicle-to-pedestrian system" that enables autonomous-driving vehicles to communicate with pedestrians. In addition, suppliers such as Continental AG, TRW Automotive Holdings Corp., Magna International Inc., and HELLA KGaA Hueck & Co. displayed their next-generation technology for ADASs. ZMP Inc., a Japan-based venture-capital company, displayed a concept car of its autonomous-driving taxi (robot taxi) that it targets commercializing by 2020.
