The 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (also known as the Auto China) was held from April 20 to 29, 2014 in Beijing (April 20 was the press day). The auto show was attended by more than 2,000 automakers and companies from 14 countries. 1,134 vehicles were displayed including 118 world premieres, 31 of which were by foreign automakers. 45 models debuted in Asia. The exhibited models include 71 concept cars and 79 new energy vehicles. Many OEMs also displayed sport utility vehicles (SUVs), whose demand is increasing in China.
MarkLines will provide the outline of the exhibits in five reports. This first report focuses on models by five American and European OEMs: General Motors (GM), Ford, Fiat-Chrysler, Volkswagen (VW), PSA Peugeot Citroën, Daimler, and BMW. More specifically, this report provides details of 24 gasoline- or diesel-fueled models: 10 concept cars, as well as 14 new models which are slated for market production in China starting in March 2014. A separate report will provide details of the new hybrid vehicles (HV), electric vehicles (EV), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHV) and fuel cell vehicles (FCV) which were exhibited by leading American and European OEMs, along with those by Japanese, Korean and other foreign OEMs.
