2021 global light vehicle production to exceed 100 million units. VW Group will take strong lead

According to LMC Automotive's production forecast (Quarter 4, 2018), global light vehicle production in 2019 will be 95.6 million units, and 101.2 million in 2021. Among the leading groups, Volkswagen Group, with an increase in production in China, is expected to strengthen its position at the top and further widen the gap between itself and Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Group, and Toyota Group. In the mid-level group, Hyundai Group is expected to recover once again to a production level of 8 million units after 2020. In addition, concentrating its business on the Americas and China, GM's production is forecast to level off at 6.5 million units. Ford is also forecast to remain around 6 million units.
