Unions oppose VW plant closures and job cuts in Germany, demand for clarity amidst restructuring
On October 28, IG Metall and ABVV Metaal unions announced that Volkswagen plans to close at least three German plants, cutting tens of thousands of jobs and shrinking the rest. This includes eliminating products, shifts, and assembly lines, with some departments to be relocated or outsourced.
