Statistics

U.S. vehicle production rises 7.3% in June, with GM, Stellantis, Honda, and Nissan expanding output—led by models such as the Silverado, Ram pickup, CR-V, and Rogue, respectively. Production is bolstered not only by rising domestic demand for SUVs and pickup trucks but also by measures easing the tariff burden on imported parts used in U.S.-made vehicles. Meanwhile, Toyota sees only a slight increase, while Ford and Tesla reduce production.

Supply chain: VW Tiguan (Europe)

VW's C-segment SUV, the "Tiguan" (3rd generation), went on sale in Europe in February 2024. Built on the MQB evo platform, it offers a wide range of powertrains, including gasoline, diesel, mild hybrid (MHEV), and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. It is a global model produced in Germany, Mexico, and China, with worldwide production reaching approx. 594,000 units in 2025. Key components of the model manufactured in Europe are primarily supplied by major European suppliers. Meanwhile, ignition coils are sourced from Eldor Elektronik (Turkey), heat pump 3-way valves from MSG Mechatronic (Austria), pillar trim from Simoldes (Poland), and alternator wiring harnesses from Schulte Automotive (Tunisia). This procurement strategy reflects an effort to balance logistics efficiency and procurement costs by leveraging nearby suppliers with strong cost competitiveness.
