On September 16, Nissan announced plans to launch a new model, Nissan Kicks, a B-segment crossover, in Europe and invest GBP 170 million to produce it at its Sunderland, UK plant.

Toyota offers a 2.7L gasoline and 2.8L turbo diesel in Japan, a 2.4L turbo paired with "i-FORCE MAX" FHEV in the U.S. and China, a 2.8L turbo diesel with 48V MHEV in Western Europe, and a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo hybrid for the Land Cruiser 300 in the Middle East.

The hybrid model utilizes the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) with a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine, hybrid EV battery, and three electric motors. Produced exclusively at the Huntsville, Alabama plant.
