Thailand's Pickup Truck Market
While Thailand's pickup truck market saw sales volumes exceeding 300,000 units through the early 2020s, it began to contract in 2023; sales stood at 146,000 units in 2025 and 78,000 units for the first half of 2026. In terms of manufacturers, Toyota and Isuzu account for approximately 80% of the market share, with their flagship models—the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max—driving the market. Although Ford (Ranger), Nissan (Navara), and Mitsubishi (Triton) sell their own models, and Chinese automakers like SAIC Motor and Great Wall Motor have also entered the fray, they have been unable to break the dominance of Toyota and Isuzu. Amidst this landscape, Toyota and Isuzu launched BEV versions of the Hilux and D-Max in March 2026. With BYD also planning to introduce a PHEV pickup truck in 2026, both companies are implementing new strategies to maintain their competitiveness in the pickup truck market.
