Market & Tech Reports
High fuel prices boost BEVs; HEVs show steady growth.
Sales of electrified vehicles (xEVs) across 12 major countries and the three Nordic countries (15 countries in total) reached 1.998 million units in May, up 4.9% year over year, accounting for 39.1% of total vehicle sales. Surging fuel prices have become one of the factors driving increased xEV sales in countries around the world. While demand for BEVs continues to expand in China and Europe, hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technology is regaining attention in the United States, keeping vehicle costs lower and supporting stable vehicle sales.

Supply chain: Mahindra & Mahindra XUV400 (India)
The XUV400 is a C-segment crossover SUV manufactured and sold by Mahindra & Mahindra (Mahindra) of India since January 2023. It is a BEV built on "MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture)," a dedicated EV platform developed in-house, and is produced at the company's Nashik plant in India.
For parts procurement, the traction motor and battery management system (BMS) are sourced from Valeo India; the battery cooling chiller from TACO Air (part of the Tata Group); displays from Visteon; head lamps and rear lamps from UNO Minda, a major Indian parts supplier; steering systems from JTEKT; and body structure components such as subframes, upper control arms, and front members from ALF Engineering, a manufacturer of body and chassis parts. The company utilizes not only major local Indian suppliers but also global Tier 1 suppliers.
