-Major customers include SAIC VW, FAW-VW, Dongfeng Honda, Chery, Great Wall Motor, Beiqi Foton Motor and other Chinese domestic OEMs. The company’s products are exported to more than 30 countries and regions.

History

July 1990 Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group (SAIC Group);  EK Chor Investment Co. of the Chia Tai Group of Thailand; and Shanghai Longhua Industry Co., Ltd. jointly established Shanghai Ek Chor General Machinery Co., Ltd.
June 2000 Established a variable compressor manufacturing joint venture, Sanden Shanghai Automotive Air Condition with its technical partner, Sanden of Japan.
Jan. 2004 Sanden (Japan) and Behr of Germany acquired 52.5% ownership in the Company. The Company adopted the current name Shanghai Sanden Behr Automotive Air Conditioning Co., Ltd.
April 2004 Shanghai Automotive Co., Ltd. decided to sell to the Company its 50% share in Shanghai Behr Thermal Systems Co., Ltd. After the equity transaction took place, Shanghai Behr Thermal Systems Co. became a 50/50 joint venture between the Company and Behr.
Dec. 2005 Shanghai Behr Thermal Systems Co., Ltd., a joint venture, completed construction of the new Jinqiao plant in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, and started production.
Sep. 2008 The Company and Sanden Corporation have formed a joint venture called Sanden (Suzhou) Precision Parts Co., Ltd., in Jiangsu.
Nov. 2012 Shanghai Behr Thermal System Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of the Company, established Shenyang Behr Thermal System Co., Ltd.
Feb. 2013 Shanghai Behr Thermal System Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of the Company, established Chengdu Behr Thermal System Co., Ltd.
Aug. 2014 Shenyang Behr Thermal System Co., Ltd. began production operations.
Feb. 2015 Chengdu Behr Thermal System Co., Ltd. began production operations.
Jan. 2016 The Company’s Hequing plant held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in Pudong district, Shanghai.
2017 The Company's SEE series electric compressors that were developed in-house are scheduled to be mass produced.
Jul. 2017 The Company's subsidiary, Shanghai Behr Thermal System Co., Ltd. changed its name to Shanghai MAHLE Thermal Systems Co., Ltd.
Jan. 2018 The company acquired 25% of the shares of Shanghai Sanden Automotive Air-Conditioning Co., Ltd. held by Japan Sanden Holdings Co., Ltd., making it a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Mar. 2021 The company established Technology Joint Lab with Rohm Co., Ltd.
Jan. 2023 The subsidiary company Sanden HASCO (Changshu)
