History

Apr. 1915 The Koito Genrokuroh Store was established by Koito Genrokuroh to sell lenses for railway signal lights and colored glass.
Apr. 1935 Established the Shinagawa Plant.
Apr. 1936 Established Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd. with capital of 2.5 million yen.
Mar. 1943 Acquired Ayaha Kutsushita in Shimizu-shi, and started its operations as the Shizuoka Plant.
May, 1949 Listed on the Tokyo and Osaka Stock Exchanges.
Oct. 1957 Spun-off the all-glass shield beam headlamp division and established it as Koito Electric Co., Ltd. to focus on mass production of such headlamps for automobiles.
Jan. 1962 Merged with Koito Electric Co. to cope with liberalization of trade.
Apr. 1967 Made a sector of the sales division into a subsidiary and sold it to Koito Industries Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary).
Apr. 1982 Developed a halogen bulb for automobiles.
Mar. 1988 Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was listed on the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Jul. 1996 Began manufacturing and sales of discharge headlamps.
Mar. 1997 Built the Technology Center.
Jul. 2000 Dissolved commercial agreement in North America with Ichikoh Industries.

Nov. 2005 Established Koito Kyusyu  Ltd. in Saga Prefecture, which is currently a consolidated subsidiary.
Sep. 2005 Made Fuzhou Ta Yih Industrial Co., Ltd. in China its subsidiary.
Nov. 2005 Established Guangzhou Koito Automotive Lamp Co., Ltd. in China, which is currently a consolidated subsidiary.
Apr. 2006 Shanghai Koito Automotive Lamp Co., Ltd. in Shanghai China opened its third factory.
