Business Overview

-The Company is a French manufacturer and a global leader in the development and manufacturing of components and systems focused on exterior body assemblies, energy storage systems, pollution reduction systems, lighting systems, software, and front-end modules.

-The Company’s operations are organized across two primary business segments further divided into business activities as follows:

  • Plastic Omnium Industries
    • Intelligent Exterior Systems: Business line for developing and manufacturing complex exterior assemblies made primarily from polypropylene and composite materials such as bumpers, spoilers, fenders, and underbody modules. The business line focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through weight reduction and improved aerodynamics of their components.
    • Clean Energy Systems: Business line for developing and manufacturing clean energy storage systems and fuel systems, including blown polyethylene fuel tanks for ICE and hybrid vehicles, as well as emission aftertreatment systems for diesel engines.
    • New Energies: New business line which spun off from the Clean Energy System business line in 2021 to develop components and systems related to alternative energy in mobility, particularly in hydrogen focused systems. The business line will develop and manufacture systems including high pressure hydrogen storage tanks, fuel cell systems, and energy management and control solutions.
    • PO Lighting: Business line focused on interior and exterior lighting components, projection systems and complete headlights. The division was created in July 2022 with the combination of the acquired entities of Automotive Lighting System and Varroc Lighting Systems.
  • Plastic Omnium Modules: Segment which features the HBPO joint venture with Hella that focuses on developing and manufacturing automotive front-end modules.

-In addition, the Company has created OP’n Soft, a new activity which focuses on the development of software for the Company’s products and services.

-The Company is a global leader in the development and production of onboard energy storage and emission reduction systems, and front-end modules. It produced 22 million bumpers, 1 million tailgates, 5 million front-end modules and 18 million fuel tanks and emission reduction systems in 2022. In addition, the Company aims to have a 25% market share in hydrogen storage systems and 15% market share in fuel cells and systems by 2030.

1995 Acquired Reydel Industries in France, a manufacturer of interior equipment, specifically consoles and dashboards, the business is later sold to Visteon in 1999.
2000 Formed a joint venture with Solvay, Inergy Automotive Systems.
2003 Inaugurated the new international R&D center in Lyon, France.
2004 Formed a joint venture with Hella and Behr to create HBPO, a supplier of front-end modules.
2006 Acquired a controlling interest in Inoplast, a European leader in composite components.
