Merger of Two Subsidiaries

-Denso Ten Limited (Denso Ten) announced on March 20 that its two subsidiaries, Denso Ten Manufacturing Limited (Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture), and Denso Ten Research Limited (Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture), will be merged with it on April 1. Denso Ten aims to conduct more business operations through the merger with Denso Ten Manufacturing, its production subsidiary, and to clarify profit and loss by business. Product Development

Development of Cloud-based Taxi Dispatch System
-Denso Ten Limited and its sales subsidiary, Denso Ten Sales Limited (Denso Ten Sales), announced the improvement of their cloud-type taxi allocation system. The two companies have integrated functions of cloud-based navigation and wireless communication systems, as well as electric control units, into an in-vehicle tablet. The new system is compatible with an already commercialized taxi demand prediction application that utilizes artificial intelligence. The two companies aim to expand sales with the added value of cloud-based services, and to further develop new applications for additional new services. Denso Ten Sales started selling a cloud-type taxi allocation system in 2015. The company has already won contracts with three taxi companies in Tokyo, and has gradually started delivery for thousands of vehicles. -Denso Ten Limited (Denso Ten, Kobe, Japan) will strengthen its connected car business through taxi business. Denso Ten Sales Limited (Denso Ten Sales), Denso Ten’s sales subsidiary, has developed an application programming interface (API) that enables mutual use of taxi reservation and dispatch service applications in and outside Japan. The API was adopted in a demonstration test started by taxi operators of Japan and Taiwan. By using the taxi dispatch apps provided by taxi companies in Japan and Taiwan via the API, users can use the taxi dispatch service both in Japan and Taiwan. The demonstration test was started on September 1 by Daiwa Motor Transportation Co., Ltd. of Japan and Taiwan-based Taiwan Taxi. Japanese travelers visiting Taiwan can use the taxi dispatch service of Taiwan Taxi using the app developed by Daiwa Motor Transportation. -Denso Ten Limited (Denso Ten) announced that it has started sales of its taxi demand forecast service for taxi companies in Japan. Denso Ten is offering NTT Docomo, Inc.’s AI Taxi service to taxi companies that will introduce Denso Ten’s cloud-type taxi allocation system. The AI Taxi service forecasts taxi demand by utilizing artificial intelligence based on population statistics, and data about the location and date when customers’ get in and out of the vehicles. Taxi drivers will access a website from tablets and smartphones in order to use the service. The service will help taxi companies to respond to sudden increases in demand for taxi services in cases such as delays in train schedules and bad weather, improve operational efficiency in unfamiliar places, eliminate variations in operating ratios, and shorten customers’ waiting time. Contract

-DENSO TEN announced that its Next-generation Premium Sound System was adopted by Toyota Motor as the "Toyota Premium Sound System" for the automaker's all-new Crown. The sound system, developed under the concept of "playback original sounds + three-dimensional sounds", includes 16 speakers with 12-channel amplifiers. To develop this system, the company uses its technologies like the signal processing technology and its speaker design experience, accumulated in its home audio business. Its audio system with 10-speaker and 8-channel audio amplifiers is also adapted in Crown Super Live Sound System. (From a press release on July 5, 2018)
