New Companies

-On April 26, 2018, Magna and Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. announced a plan to set up a joint door module manufacturing company. According to the announcement, the new company has already won an order from a German automaker. The new company is going to have a plant in Beijing to meet the needs in China. -On January 25, 2018, Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. and Gestamp agreed to set up a new joint company that produces automotive parts and components to make vehicles lighter. The new company is going to provide high-strength hot-press components and automated-laser-welded components to OEM automakers in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, as well as original and joint-venture brands of BAIC Motor Group. It plans to have production facilities in Beijing and Tianjin. The joint venture will allow Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts to ensure the capacity to supply car components for high-end models of Beijing Benz, for example, and also to explore new opportunities in the OEM market in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, and win new orders from automakers such as VW and Toyota. -Beiqi Dymos Automotive Systems (Chongqing) Co., Ltd. recently held a ceremony to mark the production launch of automotive seats. The company is established in June 2015 as a joint company owned by Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. and Hyundai Dymos, Inc. on an equal basis. Its main products are automotive seats for Beijing Hyundai’s plant in Chongqing. It can produce 300,000 sets of automotive seats per year. (From a press release on September 26, 2017)

-On September 13, 2017, ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding the establishment of a joint venture company that manufactures parts and components for electric vehicles (EVs) for the Chinese market. -On November 24, 2017, Yanfeng Hainachuan Automotive Trim Systems Cangzhou Co., Ltd. began operating in Cangzhou Economic Development Zone. Yanfeng Hainachuan Automotive Trim Systems Cangzhou is the 7th plant of Yanfeng Hainachuan Automotive Trim Systems Co., Ltd. It was built on a site of 106,666 square meters with the total investment of Chinese yuan (CNY) 750 million. Its main products are interior parts for sports utility vehicles (SUVs) produced at Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd.’s plant in Cangzhou and for Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. and Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd. The new plant is expected to generate sales of CNY 2.5 billion and pay CNY 200 million in tax. (From some releases on November 25, 2017)

-Hella said on October 26, 2017, its joint venture with Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd., Beijing Hella BHAP Automotive Lighting Co., Ltd., officially launched the operation of its new plant in Tianjin. The plant in Tianjin is the second production site of the joint company. For Hella, it’s the fifth plant to produce automotive lights in China. The new facility is built on a site of 39,873 square meters and has a floor space of 21,520 square meters. The total investment is Chinese yuan (CNY) 200 million paid 50% by Hella and 50% by Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts. The plant is going to produce 0.6 million automotive head lights and 0.6 million small lights a year. Its main customers are Beijing Benz and BAIC Motor. The company also intends to find new customers also in the central and coastal parts of China. It’s expected to generate annual sales of CNY 1 billion. (From some releases on October 27, 2017)

Cooperations

-HELLA announced that it is expanding its collaboration with Chinese company BHAP to cover the electronics and aftermarket business. The mutual development and production of electronic products is to be intensified in particular, above all in the area of control units and battery management systems. If the order volume is high enough, there are also plans for the mutual founding of a production company. Furthermore, HELLA and BHAP plan to take its established partnership in the lighting business and apply it to the aftermarket. The collaboration is also aimed at targeting highly modern driver assistance systems, which HELLA will contribute to with innovative radar sensors and camera software. R&D Centers

-On November 3, 2017, Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. set up a secondary research and development center, Power Drive and Conduction Research and Development Center, at a research and development center of Beijing Hainachuan Beichi Automotive Axle Co., Ltd. in Dingfuzhuang. -Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. launched a new lightweight technology R&D center on July 20, 2017, in Binzhou Branch. The facility is the company's secondary level R&D center that develops diversified products and provides products and technologies for car weight reduction to customers inside and outside the group. Investment in China

-In May 2018, the Company completed construction for its Benz Auto Parts Industrial Park and Caiyu Plant of Hainachuan Henglong. Located in Beijing EDZ, the park has an investment of CNY 4.38 million. It covers a land of 102,681 sqm. It will have an annual production capacity of 432,000 sets of body welding module and 432,000 sets of wheel module. The plant locates in Daxing District, Beijing. It has an investment of CNY 41 million. It covers a land of 55,774 sqm. It will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 car steering systems including 300,000 HPSs and 200,000 EPSs.
