Visteon Group (China) Business Report FY ended Dec. 2017

New Plant

-In June 2017, Jiangsu Toppower Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Visteon Corporation, inaugurated and launched production at a new plant. The new plant is built on a site of 64,000 square meters with a total investment of Chinese yuan (CNY) 350 million. The first phase construction was for building a 20,000-square-meter facility with an initial annual production capacity of 5 million sets. The plant is expected to generate yearly sales of CNY 3 to 3.5 billion. (From some releases on July 3, 2017)

Contract

-Visteon announced that Dongfeng Motor has selected SmartCore cockpit domain controller technology from Visteon or a future domestic Chinese light vehicle program. This will be Visteon’s first SmartCore application in China, the company’s largest market and the world’s biggest automotive market. Visteon will supply the SmartCore domain controller, with an integrated center information display and thin-film transistor (TFT) instrument cluster display, for a high-line variant of a high-volume Dongfeng light vehicle scheduled for production starting in 2018. Visteon is scheduled to launch the first SmartCore-based solution in 2018, for a European vehicle manufacturer. (From a press release on April 21, 2017)

Strategic Alliance

-Visteon announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Automobile Group Automotive Engineering Institute (GAC Engineering) to develop and deploy autonomous driving and other cockpit electronics solutions. Under the agreement, both companies will collaborate on the development of autonomous driving solutions using Visteon's DriveCore technology platform. In addition, both companies will explore potential commercial engagements in instrument clusters, displays, augmented reality head-up displays and domain controllers using Visteon’s SmartCore technology. -Visteon Asia Pacific (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. signed a strategic partnership agreement with NavInfo. The latest agreement is made based on the strategic partnership framework agreement sealed on July 11, 2016, by Yanfeng Visteon Electronics Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and NavInfo, with further details about their alliance scheme and contents in the area of the autonomous driving technologies. Under the framework of the two-year tie-up, NavInfo will supply maps and cloud big data platform required for autonomous driving, while Visteon develops autonomous driving systems, tests high-precision map data, and provides the test results and the technological indicators. Visteon will also supply information gathered by autonomous driving system’s sensor robots for the use in evaluating and updating NavInfo’s road map information. Visteon will test a vehicle with trail autonomous driving system in cooperation with NavInfo, as well. (From a corporate announcement released by NavInfo on April 20, 2017)

-Recently, Yanfeng Visteon Electronic Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. has signed “Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement” with Beijing Navinfo Technology Co., Ltd., both sides will collaborate in ADAS, telematics, interconnect techniques between mobile phone and vehicle and navigation solutions. Furthermore, the Navinfo and Yanfeng Visteon will also cooperate on the aspect of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System), navigation engine, unmanned, data format for NDS (Navigation Data Standard) and high-precision map and provide core service engine. Navinfo will provide a total solution for interconnect techniques between mobile phone and vehicle, such as WeLink. (From the Company Announcement on July 11, 2016)
