Product Development

-In May 2004, the Research Department of Grupo Antolin-Ingenieria started a project to produce sub-micron Vapour Grown Carbon Fibres (s-VGCF), also known as carbon nanofibres, by implementing a floating-catalyst technique. Carbon nanofibres have excellent engineering properties such as high electrical and thermal conductivity, moderate thermal expansion co-efficiency, high mechanical and anticorrosive properties, high adsorptive and lubrication capacity. They also are capable of producing recyclable and paintable reinforced polymer parts. Possible applications are: used as a filler in conductive and dissipative plastics, used for improving the ability of automotive components being painted, used in cleanroom equipment, underhood components, microparts in medical and precision equipment. They also improve the paintability of automotive components. Carbon nanofibres can be utilised effectively in electrodes for lithium-ion batteries, in fuel cells, in green tires and non-corrosive concrete, and in addition they can be used as a catalyst support.
