According to MarkLines Data Center, September vehicle sales in Thailand declined 14.1% year on year to 76,195 units. Sales in the month of September 2019 declined for the fourth month in a row due to the strictness in auto loan approval process of financial institutions as well as flooding in many areas. The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) announced that new vehicle production in September was 169,474 units, a 7.5% decline year over year. January - September production was down 2.0% to 1,572,627 units.
Vehicle exports in September were down 6.4% to 97,540 units with lower shipments to all regions except for Asia and Middle East. The export value was THB 51.7 billion, down 5.0% year on year.
Vehicle exports from January to September were down 4.4% to 821,101 units.
The FTI announced about lowering its projection for automobile production in 2019 from 2.15 million units (1.05 million units for domestic sales and 1.1 million for exports) to 2 million units (1.0 million each for both domestic sales and export), blaming a bearish sentiment in both local sales and exports.
