2018 vehicle sales in Thailand up 19.2%, production up 9.0%
According to MarkLines Data Center, December vehicle sales in Thailand increased 8.7% year over year to 113,343 units. 2018 full year vehicle sales in Thailand increased 19.2% year over year to 1,039,158 units.
By brand sales in 2018, Toyota was up 31.3% to 314,498 units. Isuzu was up 10.8% to 177,864 units and Honda was up 0.4% to 128,290 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 21.3% to 84,560 units, and Nissan sales were up 21.2% to 72,394 units.
By body type sales in 2018, passenger cars were up 15.4% year over year to 399,657 units, while commercial vehicles were up 22.2% to 642,082 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 20.6% to 511,669 units.
New vehicle production in December increased 7.7% to 169,355 units and the 2018 new vehicle production increased 9.0% to 2,167,694 units.
Vehicle exports in December decreased 0.4% to 95,407 units. The 2018 vehicle export increased 0.1% to 1,140,640 units valued at THB 595 billion, decreased 1.4%.

The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) forecasts that vehicle production in Thailand are expected to decrease 0.8% to 2.15 million units in 2019. FTI estimates production for domestic sales to increase 2.4% to 1.05 million units while production for exports to decrease 3.7% to 1.10 million units.

November vehicle sales in Thailand up 21.2%, November production up 3.5%
According to MarkLines Data Center, November vehicle sales in Thailand increased 21.2% year on year to 94,643 units. January - November sales were up 21.0% to 928,158 units.
By brand sales in November, Toyota was up 41.3% to 30,732 units. Isuzu was up 17.9% to 16,777 units and Honda was up 7.1% to 11,099 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 14.7% to 7,309 units, and Nissan sales were up 22.4% to 6,713 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 12.8% year over year to 35,446 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 26.9% to 59,197 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 27.5% to 48,612 units.
The sales growth in November was largely due to the healthy economic sentiment and new model introductions.
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) announced that new vehicle production in November was 197,020 units, a 3.5% increase year over year. January - November production was up 9.1% to 1,998,339 units.
Vehicle exports in November were down 9.6% to 93,108 units, valued at THB 48.1 billion, down 11.0% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to November were up 0.1% to 1,045,233 units.
According to the Bangkok Post’s article on December 20, the FTI said Thailand's automotive industry is expected to maintain output in 2019 at 2.15 million cars, even as domestic and external factors become volatile. The FTI's automotive industry club's tentative projection is set at 1.05 million cars sold locally, while exports are seen at 1.1 million cars.

October vehicle sales in Thailand up 26.8%, October production up 20.6%
According to MarkLines Data Center, October vehicle sales in Thailand increased 26.8% year on year to 86,931 units. January - October sales were up 20.9% to 833,515 units.
By brand sales in October, Toyota was up 36.8% to 28,990 units. Isuzu was up 11.7% to 13,496 units and Honda was up 13.7% to 10,987 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 18.3% to 6,718 units, and Nissan sales were up 37.4% to 6,333 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 14.1% year over year to 32,805 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 36.0% to 54,126 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 34.6% to 43,827 units.
The sales growth in October was largely due to the high consumer confidence, new model introductions, economic growth, higher state and private investment. Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) predicts the domestic market in 2018 to exceed 1 million units.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in October was 197,203 units, a 20.6% increase year over year. January - October production was up 9.8% to 1,801,319 units. FTI increased its forecasts on total car output in 2018 from 2.08 million units to 2.10 million units.
Vehicle exports in October were up 2.8% to 93,338 units, valued at THB 48.5 billion, down 2.7% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to October were up 1.2% to 952,125 units. FTI maintains its export projection for 2018 of 1.1 million units.

September vehicle sales in Thailand up 14.3%, September production down 3.7%
According to MarkLines Data Center, September vehicle sales in Thailand increased 14.3% year on year to 88,706 units. January - September sales were up 20.3% to 746,584 units.
By brand sales in September, Toyota was up 39.5% to 28,760 units. Isuzu was down 22.4% to 13,030 units and Honda was up 6.1% to 11,282 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 28.0% to 7,128 units, and Nissan sales were up 20.9% to 6,266 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 15.6% year over year to 34,086 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 13.5% to 54,620 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 13.8% to 43,205 units.
The sales growth in September was largely due to the high consumer confidence, new model introductions, economic growth, higher state and private investment, the tourism industry’s potential, healthy export sector and higher farm prices. Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) maintains a 2018 projection of 980,000 units, although the local market in 2018 could possibly reach 1 million units.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in September was 183,191 units, a 3.7% decrease year over year. January - September production was up 8.6% to 1,604,116 units. FTI forecasts that total car output in 2018 will reach 2.08 million units as forecasted.
Vehicle exports in September were down 13.7% to 104,163 units, valued at THB 55.4 billion, down 14.6% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to September were up 1.0% to 858,787 units. FTI maintains maintaining its export projection for 2018 of 1.1 million units.

August vehicle sales in Thailand up 27.7%, August production up 2.2%
According to MarkLines Data Center, August vehicle sales in Thailand increased 27.7% year on year to 86,814 units. January - August sales were up 21.1% to 657,878 units.
By brand sales in August, Toyota was up 69.2% to 27,086 units. Isuzu was up 2.7% to 13,135 units and Honda was up 5.6% to 11,307 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 27.6% to 7,020 units, and Ford sales were up 22.9% to 5,927 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 27.2% year over year to 34,164 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 28.1% to 52,650 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 23.7% to 41,314 units.
The sales growth in August was largely due to the economic growth, higher state and private investment and higher farm prices.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in August was 181,237 units, a 2.2% increase year on year. January - August production was up 10.4% to 1,420,925 units. In July, FTI revised up their forecasts on total car output to 2.08 million units in 2018, higher than its previous target of 2.0 million units, amid signs of the recovery of economy.
Vehicle exports in August were down 0.4% to 102,513 units, valued at THB 55.73 billion, up 2.8% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to August were up 3.5% to 754,624 units.

July vehicle sales in Thailand up 25.7%, July production up 15.1%
According to MarkLines Data Center, July vehicle sales in Thailand increased 25.7% year on year to 81,946 units. January - July sales were up 20.2% to 571,064 units.
By brand sales in July, Toyota was up 59.1% to 26,177 units. Isuzu was up 8.4% to 13,140 units and Honda was down 0.1% to 10,488 units. Mazda sales were up 62.4% to 6,362 units, and Mitsubishi sales were up 16.3% to 6,008 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 21.4% year over year to 32,531 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 28.8% to 49,415 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 25.5% to 38,565 units.
The sales growth in July was largely due to the economic growth, new model launches and higher crop prices.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in July was 183,119 units, a 15.1% increase year on year. January - July production was up 11.7% to 1,239,688 units. FTI expects total car output will grow to 2.08 million units in 2018, higher than its target of 2.0 million units, amid signs of the recovery of economy.
Vehicle exports in July were up 0.2% to 90,151 units, valued at THB 49.9 billion, up 4.0% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to July were up 4.1% to 652,111 units.

June vehicle sales in Thailand up 25.9%, June production up 7.7%
According to MarkLines Data Center, June vehicle sales in Thailand increased 25.9% year on year to 87,854 units. January - June sales were up 19.3% to 489,118 units.
By brand sales in June, Toyota was up 55.1% to 27,746 units. Isuzu was up 16.2% to 12,947 units and Honda was down 18.1% to 10,549 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 28.5% to 7,172 units, and Mazda sales were up 61.1% to 6,707 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 26.2% year over year to 37,131 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 25.6% to 50,723 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 29.5% to 40,197 units.
The sales growth in June was largely due to the introduction of new models, growing consumer confidence, government spending, new investment by the private sector, and the recovering economy.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in June was 188,970 units, a 7.7% increase year on year. January - June production was up 11.1% to 1,056,569 units.
Vehicle exports in June were up 2.4% to 95,284 units, valued at THB 49.1 billion, down 1.0% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to June were up 4.8% to 561,960 units.

May vehicle sales in Thailand up 27.9%, May production up 13.9%
According to MarkLines Data Center, May vehicle sales in Thailand increased 27.9% year on year to 84,965 units. January - May sales were up 18.0% to 401,264 units.
By brand sales in May, Toyota was up 48.9% to 26,630 units. Isuzu was up 17.9% to 14,336 units and Honda was up 4.1% to 10,420 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 33.4% to 6,882 units, and Mazda sales were up 48.4% to 5,881 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 26.8% year over year to 33,160 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 28.6% to 51,805 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 25.3% to 40,502 units.
The sales growth in May was largely due to the introduction of new models, growing consumer confidence, and the recovering economy. In July, FTI’s Automotive Industry Club plans to raise its 2018 sales forecasts possibly to 960,000 cars sold, up from 900,000 projected earlier.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in May was 193,130 units, a 13.9% increase year on year. January - May production was up 11.9% to 867,599 units.
Vehicle exports in May were up 9.7% to 98,875 units, valued at THB 51.9 billion, up 8.1% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to May were up 5.3% to 466,676 units.

April vehicle sales in Thailand up 25.2%, April production up 11.9%
According to MarkLines Data Center, April vehicle sales in Thailand increased 25.2% year on year to 79,206 units, driven by bookings at Bangkok Motor Show.
January - April sales were up 15.5% to 316,299 units. By brand sales in April, Toyota was up 30.5% to 23,223 units. Isuzu was up 21.9% to 14,764 units and Honda was up 25.0% to 10,434 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 30.6% to 6,351 units, and Ford sales were up 33.9% to 5,181 units.
By body type, passenger cars were up 17.2% year over year to 29,888 units. Commercial vehicle sales were up 30.6% to 49,318 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 25.7% to 38,478 units.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in April was 134,779 units, a 11.9% increase year on year. January - April production was up 11.3% to 674,469 units.
Vehicle exports in April were up 5.3% to 72,571 units, expanding shipments to all markets except for Asia and Australia. Export value in April was THB 36.0 billion, down 3.9% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to April were up 4.1% to 367,801 units.

March vehicle sales in Thailand up 12.1%, March production up 9.2%
According to MarkLines Data Center, March vehicle sales in Thailand increased 12.1% year on year to 95,082 units. January - March sales were up 12.6% to 237,093 units. In the first quarter, Thailand’s automobile market was driven by new models and bookings at Bangkok Motor Show.
By brand sales in March, Toyota was up 21.1% to 26,673 units. Isuzu was up 16.2% to 18,811 units and Honda was down 19.2% to 10,197 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 15.8% to 8,008 units, and Nissan sales were up 6.3% to 6,870 units.
By body type, passenger car sales were up 3.8% year over year to 34,765 units, while commercial vehicle sales were up 17.5% to 60,317 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 15.0% to 48,258 units.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in March was 195,257 units, a 9.2% increase year on year. January - March production was up 11.1% to 539,690 units.
Vehicle exports in March were up 4.7% to 110,946 units, valued at THB 58.9 billion, up 8.3% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to March were up 3.8% to 295,230 units.

February vehicle sales in Thailand up 10.3%, February production up 15.4%
According to MarkLines Data Center, February vehicle sales in Thailand increased 10.3% year on year to 75,466 units. January - February sales were up 13.0% to 142,011 units.
By brand sales in February, Toyota was down 5.6% to 20,327 units. Isuzu was up 7.7% to 13,272 units and Honda was down 6.0% to 9,129 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 30.6% to 6,810 units, and Ford sales were up 38.0% to 5,495 units.
By body type, passenger car sales were up 10.9% year over year to 29,617 units, while commercial vehicle sales were up 9.9% to 45,849 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 7.9% to 37,198 units.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in February was 178,237 units, a 15.4% increase year on year. January - February production was up 12.3% to 344,433 units.
Vehicle exports in February were up 4.1% to 102,217 units, valued at THB 52.3 billion, up 0.7% year on year. Vehicle exports from January to February were up 3.3% to 184,284 units. Shipments for Middle East, Oceania, Central and South America and Africa were healthy.
FTI's Automotive Industry Club forecasts that vehicle export in Thailand will decrease 3.5% in 2018 to 1.1 million units. The Club said that it will increase its forecasts around the middle of the year, if exports retain 3-4% growth in the coming months.

January vehicle sales in Thailand up 16.2%, January production up 9.2%
According to MarkLines Data Center, January vehicle sales in Thailand increased 16.2% year on year to 66,513 units.
By brand sales in January, Toyota was up 13.4% to 17,094 units. Isuzu was down 7.3% to 12,233 units and Honda was up 15.8% to 9,109 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 22.2% to 5,878 units, and Ford sales were up 43.2% to 4,968 units.
By body type, passenger car sales were up 27.3% year over year to 25,749 units, while commercial vehicle sales were up 10.2% to 40,796 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 7.1% to 32,796 units.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in January was 166,196 units, a 9.2% increase year on year.
Vehicle exports in January were up 2.5% to 82,067 units, valued at THB 42.0 billion, up 1.4% year on year. Shipments for all regions except for North America and Asia were healthy. In Asia, vehicle exports to Vietnam were almost stopped due to the new regulations on imported vehicles introduced in January.
