Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “December sales dynamics stayed in tune with the preceding months, by improving at a two-digit pace compared to the same month one year ago. Thus, despite a weak start in January and February, full year sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia improved by 11.9% year-on-year, to a level of 1.596 million units. The market has a long way to go return to its former strength, but a first and important step in the right direction has been made”.

The 152,259 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in November 2017 represented a increase of 15.0% compared to the same month in 2016 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on December 8.
The 1,430,197 new cars and LCVs sold in the first eleven months of 2017 represented an increase of 11.7% over the same period in 2016.
Among the four largest OEM retailers in Russia in November 2017, AvtoVAZ sales were up 14.3% to 29,163 units, Kia sales were up 9.9% to 16,106 units, Hyundai was down 3.1% to 15,284 units and Renault was up 15.0% to 13,373 units.
The 3 bestselling models sold in November were the Kia Rio, Lada Vesta and Lada Granta.
Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “With 15% year-on-year improvement, November sales result put another firm stake in the ground on the recovery path of the Russian car market. Cumulative sales in the past 11 months delivered a plus of 12% over the same period in 2016. It is well worth remembering that exactly one year ago, we were still looking at a cumulative minus of 12%. Quite some progress in a short period of time. One month to go before we know how good the current year finally was, and where the starting line for 2018 will be.”

Russian car sales increase 17.3% in October
The 148,597 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in October 2017 represented a increase of 17.3% compared to the same month in 2016 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on November 9.
The 1,277,938 new cars and LCVs sold in the first ten months of 2017 represented an increase of 11.3% over the same period in 2016.
Among the four largest OEM retailers in Russia in October 2017, AvtoVAZ sales were up 22.9% to 28,638 units, Kia sales were up 15.9% to 17,407 units, Hyundai was up 10.7% to 15,712 units and Renault was up 18.4% to 13,036 units.
The 3 bestselling models sold in October were the Kia Rio, Lada Granta and Lada Vesta.
Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “The recovery of the Russian car market continues with October sales exceeding last year’s result by a robust 17%. This is now the 8th consecutive month of year-on-year improvement, the longest period of uninterrupted growth the market of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles has experienced since 2012. Of course the size of today’s market is still a far cry from the record sales achieved in that year. But it is encouraging to see that, at the current pace of recovery, total sales in 2017 have a good chance to restore the market to the level it had in 2015.”

Russian car sales increase 16.7% in August
The 132,742 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in August 2017 represented a increase of 16.7% compared to the same month in 2016 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on September 8.
The 980,921 new cars and LCVs sold in the first eight months of 2017 represented an increase of 9.6% over the same period in 2016.
Among the four largest OEM retailers in Russia in August 2017, AvtoVAZ sales were up 25.4% to 26,211 units, Kia sales were up 28.6% to 15,050 units, Hyundai was up 13.0% to 13,446 units and Renault was up 21.7% to 11,163 units.
The 3 bestselling models sold in August were the Lada Granta, Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris.
Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “The recovery of the Russian car market keeps going strong in August. Year-to date sales after 8 months stand close to one million, still a modest figure in the historical comparison. But it’s the fact of the recovery taking place - at this robust pace and for 6 consecutive months - which is most important for the time being. General market mood is clearly on the up, and so are the expectations for the remainder of the year. The AEB will update its sales forecast for full year 2017 next month, together with September result.”

The 848,214 new cars and LCVs sold in the first seven months of 2017 represented an increase of 8.5% over the same period in 2016.
Among the four largest OEM retailers in Russia in July 2017, AvtoVAZ sales were up 21.8% to 26,502 units, Kia sales were up 36.7% to 16,187 units, Hyundai was up 10.6% to 11,952 units and Renault was up 20.3% to 10,982 units.

Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “Double-digit growth on the Russian car market continues for the third month in a row, unabated by the arrival of the peak holiday season. It appears that, finally, the middle-class buyer has woken up, encouraged by a brighter outlook on the economy and embracing the package of purchase incentives put together by the government. The recent sales trend is great news and feeding the optimism that 2017 will indeed become a turn-around year for the industry.”

Russian car sales increase 9.4% in March, results in positive 2017 Q1
The 137,894 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in March 2017 represented a increase of 11,900 units, or 9.4% compared to the same month in 2016 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on April 10.
The 322,464 new cars and LCVs sold in the first three months of 2017 represented an increase of 1% over the same period in 2016, resulting in the first positive quarter in four years.
Among the four largest OEM retailers in Russia in March 2017, Lada sales were up 13% to 25,110 units, Hyundai sales were up 29% to 14,219 units, Kia sales were up 18% to 14,614 units, and Renault sales were up 19% to 11,274 units.
The ten bestselling models sold in March were the Kia Rio, Lada Granta, Hyundai Solaris, Lada Vesta, Hyundai Creta, VW Polo, Toyota RAV4, Renault Duster, Toyota Camry, and Lada X-Ray.
Among the ten bestselling models, all models are locally produced.
Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “Finally, the sales trend on the Russian car market is moving in the right direction. Year-on-year, the 9% improvement in March was big enough to compensate the smaller losses in January-February, turning the cumulative sales result of the first quarter into a slight plus. This is great news for our market which had not seen a positive quarter in more than 4 years.”

Russian car sales slide 4.1% in February
The 106,658 new cars and light commercial vehicles sold in Russia in February 2017 represented a decrease of 4,574 units, or 4.1% compared to the same month in 2016 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on March 9.
Among the four largest OEM retailers in Russia in February 2017, Lada sales were up 5% to 20,003 units, Hyundai sales were down 11% to 9,391 units, Kia sales were up 8% to 12,390 units, and Renault sales were up 9% to 9,626 units.
The top 10 models sold in February were the Kia Rio, Lada Granta, Lada Vesta, Hyundai Creta, VW Polo, Renault Duster, Hyundai Solaris, Renault Sandero, Renault Logan, and Toyota RAV4.
All ten of the best-selling models are locally produced.
Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “We see a very diverse sales performance by brand this month, in aggregate not enough to generate a plus for the total market as some of the traditional volume makers contributed less than they did in the same period one year ago.”

Russian car sales decrease 5% in January 2017
The 77,916 new cars and light commercial vehicles sold in Russia in January 2017 represented a decrease of 4,078 units, or 5% compared to the same month in 2016 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on February 8.
Among the four largest OEM retailers in Russia in January 2017, Lada sales were up 5% to 16,334 units, Kia sales were up 14% to 10,306 units, Hyundai sales were down 16% to 6,694 units, and Renault sales were up 4% to 5,208 units sold.
The top 10 models sold in January were the Kia Rio, Lada Granta, Lada Vesta, Hyundai Solaris, Hyundai Creta, VW Polo, Skoda Rapid, Renault Duster, Chevrolet Niva, and Lada 4x4.
All ten of the best-selling models are locally produced.
Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee said, “After a very slow first 2 weeks, customer activity has been picking up visibly and consistently across the industry starting from the middle of January. This is a solid basis to start from into the beginning spring season, and with the recent trend continuing it should be only a matter of time until we see sales growing year-on-year.”
