Russian car sales increase 10.7% in December, increase 36.3% for 2023
The 70,922 new cars and light commercial vehicles sold in Russia in December represented an increase 10.7% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on January 11 (Due to the unavailability of monthly data for Cadillac and Chevrolet from April 2022 onward.).
In all of 2023, 937,081 cars were sold in Russia, a 36.3% up from 2022 sales.
Among the three largest OEM retailers in Russia in 2023, Lada sales were up 86.9% to 352,572 units, Haval sales were up 253.2% to 118,826 units, Chery sales were up 206.7% to 118,055 units.
The top 3 models sold in 2023 were Lada Granta, Lada Niva and Haval Jolion.

Russian car sales increase 139.1% in November
The 110,935 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in November 2023 represented an increase of 139.1% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on December 5. January-November total was up 44% y/y.
Full year results and forecast for 2024 will be presented at the annual press conference of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee in January.
Detailed statistics by brand will be provided in the annual press release.

Russian car sales up 143.5% in October
The 110,150 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in October 2023 represented an increase of 143.5% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on November 4. From January to October, total sales rose 38%.
It can reach 1 million new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles by the end of 2023.
Detailed statistics by brand will be provided in the annual press release.

Russian car sales increase 57.3% in September
The 64,429 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in September 2023 represented an increase of 57.3% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on October 4. (Due to the unavailability of monthly data for Cadillac and Chevrolet from April 2022 onward.).
The 638,678 new cars and LCVs sold in the first nine months of 2023 represented an increase of 43.3% over the same period in 2022.
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in September 2023, Lada sales were up 75.5% to 36,231 units, Haval sales were up 280.7% to 13,059 units, GAZ LCV was up 41.4% to 5,399 units, UAZ was up 59.4% to 4,026 units and Tank sales were 1,513 units.
The 3 bestselling models sold in the first nine months of 2023 were the Lada Granta, Lada Niva and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.

The 59,332 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in August 2023 represented an increase of 42.3% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on September 5. (No announcement has been made for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, smart, Chery in August monthly figures. Therefore August is displayed as N/A. The 392,943 new cars and LCVs sold in the first eight months of 2023 represented a decrease of 4.3% over the same period in 2022.
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in August 2023, Lada sales were up 84.2% to 33,325 units, Haval sales were up 273.8% to 11,178 units, GAZ LCV was up 81.4% to 5,274 units, UAZ was up 42.2% to 3,542 units and Tank sales were 1,647 units.
The 3 bestselling models sold in August were the Lada Granta, Lada Niva and Lada Vesta.

The 358,921 new cars and LCVs sold in the first half of 2023 represented a decrease of 3.1% over the same period in 2022.
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in June 2023, Lada sales were up 272.0% to 27,839 units, Haval sales were up 406.1% to 8,285 units, GAZ LCV was up 70.3% to 4,616 units, Changan was up 941.3% to 3,603 units and UAZ was up 114.7% to 3,398 units.

Russian car sales increase 112.1% in May
The 51,466 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in May 2023 represented an increase of 112.1% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on June 6. (Sale figures of BMW and Mercedes-Benz will be announced quarterly. Due to the unavailability of monthly data for Cadillac and Chevrolet from May 2022 onward.)
The 228,500 new cars and LCVs sold in the first five months of 2023 represented a decrease of 26.0% over the same period in 2022.
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in May 2023, Lada sales were up 297.6% to 23,904 units, Haval sales were up 749.3% to 7,576 units, Geely was up 682.4% to 7,096 units, GAZ LCV was up 107.6% to 3,923 units and Changan was up 683.8% to 2,516 units.
The 3 bestselling models sold in May were the Lada Granta, Lada Niva and Haval Jolion.

The 177,034 new cars and LCVs sold in the first four months of 2023 represented a decrease of 37.8% over the same period in 2022.
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in April 2023, Lada sales were up 224.9% to 27,635 units, Haval sales were up 805.4% to 7,352 units, Geely was up 1,311.8% to 6,113 units, GAZ LCV was up 112.1% to 4,012 units and UAZ was up 45.5% to 2,357 units.

The 153,477 new cars and LCVs sold in the first three months of 2023 represented a decrease of 44.7% over the same period in 2022.
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in March 2023, Lada sales were up 89.9% to 23,335 units, Haval sales were up 331.0% to 6,780 units, Geely was up 243.1% to 5,119 units, GAZ LCV was up 77.1% to 5,112 units and UAZ was up 18.1% to 2,605 units.

Russian car sales decrease 62.1% in February
The 41,851 new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold in Russia in February 2023 represented a decrease of 62.1% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on March 6 (For BMW, Mercedes-Benz, smart, Chery, the figures for the month of November have not been announced yet. Due to the unavailability of monthly data for Cadillac and Chevrolet from May 2022 onward)..
The 74,350 new cars and LCVs sold in the first two months of 2023 represented a decrease of 62.5% over the same period in 2022.
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in February 2023, Lada sales were up 4.7% to 22,437 units, Haval sales were up 49.2% to 5,324 units, Geely was up 85.2% to 4,053 units, GAZ LCV was down 30.8% to 2,625 units and UAZ was down 9.4% to 1,525 units.
The 3 bestselling models sold in February were the Lada Granta, Lada Niva and Haval Jolion.

Russian car sales decrease 63.1% in January 2023
The 32,499 new cars and light commercial vehicles sold in Russia in January 2023 represented a decrease of 63.1% compared to the same month in 2022 according to the Association of European Business (AEB) Automobile Manufacturers Committee on February 6 (For BMW, Mercedes-Benz, smart, Chery, the figures for the month of November have not been announced yet. Due to the unavailability of monthly data for Cadillac and Chevrolet from May 2022 onward).
Among the five largest OEM retailers in Russia in January 2023, Lada sales were down 3.2% to 17,468 units, Haval sales were up 43.1% to 4,535 units, Geely sales were up 87.9% to 3,501 units, GAZ LCV sales were down 31.7% to 1,816 units and Kia sales were down 88.5% to 1,415 units sold
The top 3 models sold in January were the Lada Granta, Lada Niva and Geely Coolray.
