Canadian vehicle sales down 1.1% in December, up 4.6% for 2017
Canadian vehicle sales in December fell 1.1% from the same month in 2016, to 124,247 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 91,560 units, were up 3.8% in December and passenger car sales, at 32,687 units, were down 12.5% compared to December 2016.
Full-year vehicle sales of 2,038,798 units in 2017 were up 4.6% from 2016, with passenger car sales down 3.4% and SUV and pickup sales up 8.7% from 2016 levels.
Combined sales in December for the Detroit Big 3 were down 3.1% to 54,981 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 0.6% to 69,266 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM was up 9.2%, while Ford and FCA were down 11.3% and 6.4%, respectively, from last December.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota was down 7.4%, Nissan was up 14.2%, Honda was down 26.7%, and Subaru sales were up 4.6% in December.
Hyundai and Kia sales were up 23.4% and 6.6%, respectively.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz, BMW brand, VW brand, and Audi sales were up 6.5%, 3.4%, 53.7%, and 6.6%, respectively, from December 2016.

Canadian vehicle sales in November fell 1.2% from the same month in 2016, to 158,653 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 114,592 units, were up 2.7% in November and passenger car sales, at 44,061 units, were down 10.0% compared to 2016.
Canadian vehicle sales of 1,914,551 units for the first eleven months of 2017 were up 5.0% from the same period in 2016, with passenger car sales down 2.8% and SUV and pickup sales up 9.1%.
Combined sales in November for the Detroit Big 3 were down 9.8% to 66,441 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 6.1% to 92,212 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM, Ford, and FCA were down 17.2%, 2.8%, and 7.8%, respectively, from last November.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Subaru sales in November were up 3.0%, 8.0%, 1.2%, and 8.0%, respectively.
Hyundai sales were down 8.3%, while Kia sales were up 15.5% from last November.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz sales were up 14.1% and BMW brand sales were up 2.7% from last November.
VW brand sales were up 31.8% in November compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 19.3%.

Canadian vehicle sales in October were up 6.3% from the same month in 2016, to 164,214 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 115,417 units, were up 13.6% in October and passenger car sales, at 48,797 units, were down 7.9% compared to 2016.
Canadian vehicle sales of 1,755,898 units for the first ten months of 2017 were up 5.6% from the same period in 2016, with passenger car sales down 2.2% and SUV and pickup sales up 9.7%.
Combined sales in October for the Detroit Big 3 were up 4.6% to 65,126 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 7.4% to 99,088 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM was up 26.5% and Ford was down 2.0%, while FCA was down 11.9% from last October.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Subaru were up in October 9.0%, 13.1%, 2.4%, and 2.6%, respectively.
Hyundai sales were up 1.5%, while Kia sales were up 0.4% from last October.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz sales were up 11.8% and BMW brand sales were up 1.6% from last October.
VW brand sales were up 31.5% in October compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 11.3%.

Canadian vehicle sales in September were up 7.7% from the same month in 2016, to 186,837 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 129,731 units, were up 12.5% in September and passenger car sales, at 57,106 units, were down 1.8% compared to last year.
Canadian vehicle sales of 1,591,684 units for the first nine months of 2017 were up 5.5% from the same period in 2016, with passenger car sales down 1.6% and SUV and pickup sales up 9.3%.
Combined sales in September for the Detroit Big 3 were up 1.7% to 76,562 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 12.3% to 110,275 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM was up 7.0% and Ford was up 2.4%, while FCA was down 6.1% from last September.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Subaru were up in September 14.9%, 14.4%, 3.4%, and 11.5%, respectively.
Hyundai sales were up 2.6%, while Kia sales were up 19.4% from last September.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz sales were up 12.9% and BMW brand sales were up 3.4% from last September.
VW brand sales were up 50.5% in September compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 19.6%.

Canadian vehicle sales in August were up 6.9% from the same month in 2016, to 183,945 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 124,849 units, were up 10.1% in August, as passenger car sales, at 59,096 units, were up 0.8% compared to last year.
Canadian vehicle sales of 1,404,847 units for the first eight months of 2017 were up 5.3% from the same period in 2016, with passenger car sales down 1.6% and SUV and pickup sales up 8.9%.
Combined sales in August for the Detroit Big 3 were up 3.8% to 75,915 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 9.3% to 108,030 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM sales were up 28.5%, while Ford sales were down 5.9% and FCA sales were down 9.2% from last August.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru brand sales were up in August 7.7%, 6.1%, 13.8%, and 9.7% respectively.
Hyundai sales were down 10.9%, while Kia sales were up 15.0% from last August.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz sales were up 13.4%, as BMW brand sales were up 3.1% from last August.
VW brand sales were up 71.9% in August compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 26.8%.

Canadian vehicle sales in July were up 4.9% from the same month in 2016, to 181,834 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 123,603 units, were up 8.3% in July, as passenger car sales, at 58,231 units, were down 1.7% compared to last year.
Canadian vehicle sales of 1,220,902 units for the first seven months of 2017 were up 5.0% from the same period in 2016, with passenger car sales down 2.0% and SUV and pickup sales up 8.7%.
Combined sales in July for the Detroit Big 3 were up 1.7% to 76,969 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 7.4% to 104,865 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM sales were up 21.6%, while Ford sales were down 7.1% and FCA sales were down 4.9% from last July.
Among Japanese automakers, Honda, Subaru, Nissan, and Toyota brand sales were up in July 10.7%, 5.8%, 11.0%, and 3.4%, respectively.
Hyundai sales were down 14.8%, while Kia sales were up 15.0% from last July.
Among German companies, Mercedes-Benz sales were up 10.7%, as BMW brand sales dropped 1.8% from last July.
VW brand sales were up 37.9% in July compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 29.7%.

SUV and pickup sales, at 137,046 units, were up 10.0% in June, while passenger car sales, at 66,440 units, were down 0.1% compared to last year.
Combined sales in June for the Detroit Big 3 were up 5.2% to 86,835 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 7.4% to 116,651 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, Ford was up 14.1% and GM was up 4.2%, and FCA was down 3.1% from last June.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were up 4.0% and Honda sales were up 14.1%. Nissan brand sales were up 12.4%, Mazda sales were up 4.0%, Subaru sales were up 6.1%, and Mitsubishi sales were up 9.4%.
Hyundai sales were down 15.5% and Kia sales were up 8.8% from June 2016.

SUV and pickup sales, at 141,689 units, were up 16.3% in May, while passenger car sales, at 75,172 units, were up 2.9% compared to last year.
Combined sales in May for the Detroit Big 3 were up 17.6% to 98,810 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were up 6.5% to 118,051 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM was up 35.8% and Ford was up 17.4%, and FCA was up 4.6% from last May.
Among Japanese automakers, Toyota brand sales were up 7.4% and Honda sales were up 11.6%. Nissan brand sales were up 5.4%, Mazda sales were up 7.9%, Subaru sales were up 17.6%, and Mitsubishi sales were up 6.3%.

Canadian car sales in April were down 1.6% from the same month in 2016, to 197,203 units.
SUV and pickup sales, at 130,912 units, were up 2.5% in April, while passenger car sales, at 66,291 units, were down 8.7% compared to last year.
Combined sales in April for the Detroit Big 3 were up 1.9% to 88,706 units, while sales of all foreign nameplates combined were down 4.3% to 108,497 units.
Of the Big Three manufacturers, GM was up 16.4% and Ford was up 0.2%, but FCA was down 9.1% from last April.
Among Japanese automakers, Honda sales were up 5.8% and Subaru sales were up 8.6%, while Toyota brand sales were down 9.9% and Nissan brand sales were down 8.1%.
Hyundai sales were down 0.3% and Kia sales were down 6.5% from April 2016.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 3.8% and BMW brand was down 2.0%.
VW brand sales were down 30.1% compared to the previous year, while Audi sales were up 7.6%.

Canadian car sales in March were up 7.1% from March 2016, at 187,540 units. SUV and pickup sales of 125,983 units were up 11.1%, while passenger car sales, at 61,557 units, were down 0.3% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, GM was up 22.9% and FCA was up 2.6%, and Ford was up 0.2% from last March.
Most Japanese automakers had a strong March, with Honda brand up 18.7%, Toyota brand was up 0.1%, Nissan brand up 26.7%, Mazda up 14.8%, and Subaru up 10.4% year-over-year. However, Mitsubishi was down 10.6%.
Hyundai monthly sales were down 14.7%, and Kia sales were up 6.1% from March 2016.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 11.9% and BMW brand was up 3.8%. VW brand sales were down 22.4% compared to the previous year, though Audi brand sales were up 6.4%.
Combined sales for the Big 3 were up 8.2%, while all foreign nameplates combined were up 6.1% in unit sales over March 2016.

Canadian car sales in February were up 3.2% from February 2016, at 123,032 units. In February, SUV and pickup sales of 84,865 units were up 5.7%, while passenger car sales, at 38,167 units, were down 2.1% compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, GM was up 5.1% and Ford was up 3.1%, and FCA was up 1.6% from last February.
Most Japanese automakers had a strong February, with Honda brand up 21.7%, Nissan brand up 6.5%, Mazda up 15.0%, and Subaru up 16.6% year-over-year. However, Toyota brand was down 8.7% and Mitsubishi was down 14.7%.
Hyundai monthly sales were down 12.7%, and Kia sales were down 8.7% from February 2016.
Among German companies, Mercedes sales were up 22.5% and BMW brand was up 1.3%. VW brand sales were down 8.9% compared to the previous year, though Audi brand sales were up 27.8%.

Canadian vehicle sales up 2.2% in January
Canadian car sales in January were up 2.2% from last January, at 110,945 units. In January, SUVs and pickups were up 5.4% at 78,733 units, while passenger cars were down 4.8% at 32,212 units compared to last year.
Of the Detroit Big 3, FCA was up 1.6%, Ford was up 3.5%, and GM was up 1.5% from last January.
Most of the Japanese automakers had positive January sales, with Toyota up 0.9%, Honda up 1.9%, Nissan brand up 0.1%. Mazda was up 18.5%, Subaru was up 4.4%, and Mitsubishi was down 5.0% year-over-year.
Hyundai monthly sales were down 10.9% and Kia sales were down 4.7% from January 2016.
Mercedes sales were up 28.9%, BMW brand was up 2.7%, but VW brand sales were down 11.1% compared to the previous year. Audi sold 28.1% and Volvo sold 1.0% more vehicles this January.
