*The preliminary data include the sales volume of tractors and cranes made in Japan. The definite data to be released later do not include the sales volume of tractors and cranes made in Japan. Therefore, the figures on the data are different.

Japanese new vehicle sales in January decreased 2.3% y/y to 367.7K units, Amidst overall sluggish registered vehicle sales (-4.2%), Suzuki and Lexus posted double-digit growth, while mini vehicles performed well (+1.1%) with Daihatsu achieving double-digit growth
According to the Japan Automotive Dealers Association and Japan Light Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle Association, sales in Japan in January 2026 decreased 2.3% to 367,748 units.
Sales with engine displacements above 660cc decreased 4.2% to 228,832 units. Vehicles with engine displacements below 660cc increased 1.1% to 138,916 units.
